Omega General Help / Engine Dies After glo-plugs change

Wonder if anyone has any ideas about the following problem:
98 Elite 2.5td Changed glo-plugs, now starts after half turn of the starter motor and will tick over forever thereafter but immediately the accelerator is pressed it dies.
It is with a local agricultural engineers who are normally excellent at finding solutions even with weird and wonderful kit which no one else understands. They have changed the glo-plugs previously with no problems, in this instance they are completely stumped.
They cannot read from the obd port.
The only other fault which happened months prior to this and previously had no impact on the engine function is the fuse controlling the heater blowers and power steerling etc. keeps blowing.
Any ideas to try gratefully received.
