Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bypass the boot amp?
« on: 11 December 2008, 19:07:51 »
I have a '96 2.5 CDX wih a (I think) SC804. I replaced it with an aftermarket CD and all OK but no sound! I think I have to bypass the boot amp? Anyone done this and is it simple? :D

Omega General Help / Waving temperature guage!
« on: 26 March 2010, 13:03:28 »
I have an overheating problem, but the main issue seems to be my temp guage 'dancing' about (2.5 V6). It will go to over 100° then drop to 95° and back up in a matter of a couple of seconds seemingly at random.

Has anyone seen this before?

Omega General Help / Has anyone removed a steering wheel?
« on: 15 July 2009, 13:42:57 »
What is the procedure for removing the steering wheel (1996 model) to ensure the airbag is all OK afterwards?

Omega General Help / Where is the engine temp sensor......
« on: 19 May 2009, 13:16:56 »
On a 2.5 V6? My gauge seems to 'wobble about', never seen that before. It can be at 100 then drop down to 95 in ½ a second, like a little windscreen wiper! Never seen that before hence  the check on the sensor and it's wiring.

Omega General Help / How many fans should there be?
« on: 16 May 2009, 10:32:59 »
How many cooling fans are there on a 2.5V6? I can see one on the radiator but I believe there are others. Where are they?

Omega General Help / Removing steering wheel

Does the airbag need resetting afterwards (dealer) or is it just a case of disconnecting the battery for ½hour before removal?

Omega General Help / Where is the thermostat on a V6?

And does anyone know roughly how long it takes to remove and replace?

Omega General Help / 2.5V6 running too warm?
« on: 11 May 2009, 11:44:32 »
My 2.5 CDX seems to be running too warm, it goes up to 100° in usual town driving which seems too hot to me, is that right? If I get out of town it appears to settle down but I am nearly always in traffic so it is hard to know.
Flushed the rad and that made no difference but I have noticed when I stop briefly and switch off the temp drops down fast before returning to 95+. It also seems odd that the temp gauge seems to fluctuate wildly at times?

Any ideas? Maybe thermostat?

Omega General Help / Radiator draining (to flush out)
« on: 05 May 2009, 13:39:49 »
I need to drain my radiator (1996 2.5 V6) to introduce a flushing agent in. Is there a drain tap anywhere on the system that would make this easier?

Omega General Help / Engine temperature/fans on a 2.5
« on: 07 April 2009, 19:55:52 »
My 2.5 CDX seems to run hotter than I'd expect. It never overheats but will get up to 100° in traffic then go between there and 95°. Maybe the fuse for the fans (I never seem to hear the fans kick in), are they under the cover near the battery?

If not maybe just a radiaitor flush required!

Omega General Help / Steering wheel is not straight anymore!
« on: 03 April 2009, 18:17:52 »
I had the tracking an tyres done and now the steering wheel is no longer straight.
Is it easy to get off (bearing in mind the airbag) and straighten up? Anyone ever done that?

Omega General Help / V6 Rocker gaskets and cam belts
« on: 12 March 2009, 13:29:41 »
The two old favourites! I will be getting both done shortly for my 1996 2.5 CDX auto which is really fine apart from smoke from under the bonnet, very annoying.
Does anyone have to hand the GM part numbers for the cam belts kit and the rocker cover gaskets (plus the black? sealant I will need?). Have I missed anything else I'll need?

Omega General Help / Windscreen washers not working!
« on: 23 January 2009, 19:47:14 »
They stopped last week! I thought they were frozen but they are not. Motor is still running and no water appears to be coming out underneath (I thought perhaps a pipe had come off).

Any ideas anyone? 1996 2.5CDX by the way.
