Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Immobiliser fault?
« on: 04 December 2009, 08:17:13 »
Hi,

Replaced abs ecu, now car won't start. Think it's an issue with the immobiliser.

Fault codes 135, 144, 31

Doing abs, removed quite a few connectors but can't find any I missed putting it back together.

Any ideas which connectors immobiliser runs through?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Outside air temp sensor location?
« on: 25 March 2011, 16:08:51 »
Hi all,

Back with another problem.

Outside air temp display is showing 'F'

Look using "My Naff Code Reader" and its showing low voltage to sensor.

Before I can check sensor and wiring I could do with finding it!! :-)

PLEASE READ - I've read a post on this that says its N/S/F wheelwell, but I'm buggered if I can find it. If anyone knows and can put it into words that my little brain can understand I'd be very grateful. PS if it is there do I need to take off the wheel arch liner?

Thanks all,
Simon

Hi all,

My miggy has had quite a significant vibration for some time now, say from around 60mph upwards.

In the mean time its had 4 brand new tyres and new front discs.

I'm wondering if its a propshaft problem. Anyone any thoughts?

Thanks

Omega General Help / ABS ECU replaced now car not starting
« on: 03 December 2009, 16:43:24 »
Hi,

I've just had my abs ecu refurbed, put it back on the car, put it all together and now it won't start :-( specifically the engine spins but does not fire and the eml light is flashing.

Fault codes showing are 135, 144 and 31.

I'm totally baffled with this as I'm certain I've put all the wiring back together.

Any thoughts on this much appreciated.

I noticed that there is a purple multiplug in the relay box that isn't connected.  Has wires going to it but no plug in th top of it. Can't remember now if it had a plug in it. If anyone could double check their relay box that would be great.

PS It's a 2.5 petrol auto should that make any difference

Omega General Help / Immobiliser / transponder coding help - Leeds
« on: 04 December 2009, 23:04:41 »
Hi,

Anyone help around Leeds??

Having replaced the abs ecu (engine ecu and battery had been removed), I've got codes 135, 144 showing and eml light blinking both with ignition on and cranking (engine turning but not firing).

I'm suspecting the transponder has dropped its code (read similar problems on Vaux network).

Help appreciated and compensated.

Cheers

Simon

PS Just ordered pass key from stealers - £23.50!! Should be with me Tuesday

Omega General Help / 144 Immobiliser no signal
« on: 04 December 2009, 17:45:36 »
Hi,

Codes 144, 31 (No rpm signal) and 135 (Telltale (Checklight) Voltage Low) fault codes showing.
Engine spinning over but not starting. EML light flashing away to itself merrily.

Anyone ever seen this before? Have done a fair bit of work the car so wondering if I've left something off.

Work done:

Removed engine compartment relay box
Removed engine ecu
Disconnected 3 large multiplugs behind battery
Removed heat shield from abs ecu - no earth starps here is there that I missed when I unbolted it??
Removed abs ecu - had it refurbed.

Put everything all back together 4 times now.

Checked, double checked and tripple check connectors at back of battery.

Tried starting with different keys
Tried starting with top and bottom connectors off abs ecu - made no difference.

Any advice anyone or should I invest in a gallon of petrol and a match?  :o

Seriously though, I'm totally out of ideas now  :'(

Omega General Help / ABS ECU
« on: 27 November 2009, 22:52:44 »
Hi,

I've got the t/c and abs lights showing intermittently on the car (2.5v6).

I suspect from reading on here its a result of the abs ecu. Anyway, I've wipped it out anyway and will be sending it off for a refurb.

But theres the question. Can a faulty abs ecu affect the power steering?

I'm saying this because with the warning lights on, the speedo stops working and I've noticed then that the steering feels heavier.

Glad to hear any thoughts on this.

Omega General Help / Aircon u/s
« on: 25 May 2009, 23:30:13 »
Okay heres the story so far....

Had the car over 3 years now, and as regards the aircon, its always worked faultlessly.

Turned the aircon on yesterday and nothing. When I turn the aircon on and off with the eco button, the engine hesitates slightly, but the revs dont pick up like they used to.

I've done most jobs on cars, so I'm pretty confident with a spanner and finding my way around but I've never worked on ac systems.

I could really do with some advice on process of elimination steps which I'm guessing involves checking fuses, relays, refrigerant level etc (more detail the better  :y)

Anyway, I'd be very grateful for anyone pointing me in the right direction without having to resort to VX

Thanks in advance, Si

Omega General Help / Fault code reader help plz!
« on: 08 May 2008, 18:23:40 »
Hi,

Anyone around Leeds got a fault code reader that can pull up codes for the alarm (randomly going off). Done all the usual stuff with bonnet, interior sensors etc but no joy... :'(

Omega General Help / Alarm fault - TECH2 codes??
« on: 07 May 2008, 16:59:24 »
Hi,

Got a problem just start with my 2000 2.5v6 saloon with the alarm going off of all things.

So far tried deactivating interior sensors and unplugging switch under the bonnet. Still no joy :-(

.....and yes all doors and windows are closed.

I'm not sure where to go from here, but I thought I'd read a while back on here that alarm activations were recorded and could be viewed with tech2/paperclip. I'm just about to go give it a whirl and see what I can find, but I've looked for fault code lists of which I found Marks excellent one, but this is missing anything which looks alarm related.

All ideas on a post card :-)

Cheers Simon

Quick update:   Just done paperclip and no faults showing. Maybe one for just the tech2 proper unit as suggested. Interesting one on the flashing light for the sensor.... anyone know if the light tells what was triggered? Cheers for all the advice so far!!

Just checked the alarm indicator light to what it says in the manual and all is as it should be. Doesnt report back on what triggered it sadly

Omega General Help / Handbrake adjustment
« on: 19 December 2006, 22:34:36 »
Hi everyone,

Whilst I'm in the mood for some punishment, I'm thinking of sorting out the handbrake this weekend to get rid of the rather excessive travel on the lever (8 clicks!!!)

I've not had a look at it yet, but was wandering if there is anything I should be aware of with Omegas before I get down and dirty?

All advice and experiences gratefully received  :y

Cheers

Omega General Help / 2.5 v6 missfire
« on: 07 December 2006, 22:56:57 »
Right here goes!

engine has got an intermittent misfire. most of the time its fine, other times its maybe got a slight miss on tickover but noticably so when revved up.

The story so far is that I recently replaced a knock sensor (drivers side) where the wire had got squashed. E/m light on and all that. Note though that it still had the occasional miss before i did the knock sensor. thought it might be due to the air mass sensor, so i got a second hand one off ebay as it was going cheap (thought it wouldnt harm to have a spare either way) but changing it has made no difference.
The car has had the dis pack, leads and plugs done May 2005.

Its a real pain to diagnose tho, no e/m light and only comes on for a bit (usualy when im at work and the wifes using it).

I was planning on checking the induction system for leaks, then pop the plenum chamber off and check sparks. Anyone got any ideas if this is the best plan or where i should start my investigation??

Cheers

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi, and thanks
« on: 14 December 2006, 23:10:54 »
Hi all,

In the couple of weeks I've been a member I've had tons of help (even a donated rocker gasket from laidback66 :y).

Finally got my car back on the road tonight after nearly a week. New rocker gasket, oil change, coolant change, dis pack and ht leads.
Doesn't sound a big deal until you factor in trying to diagnose the slight misfire. But thanks to you guys and a few tears, got it sorted.

Just two handy tips I've picked up for those interested. The mysterious breather pipe at the back of the engine is from the auto box and doesnt connect to anything at the top of the engine (thanks again to the forum from this. found someone else had the same cold sweats on a previous post!). Second, when disconnecting the coolant feeds to the throttle housing, do take the time to plug the ends before continuing. Don't have what happened to me where the passenger side pipe jumped across over the engine and began to fill no1 valve chamber with coolant. Please learn from my stupidity  :y

All the best to everyone and a happy Christmas  :)

Simon
