Omega General Help / leaky rocker box gasket
« on: 28 May 2010, 22:19:17 »
i know its a common problem but can anybody give me an idea how to cure this  please? the passengerside cover is leaking,it was changed 2 weeks ago as the rocker box had a crack in it,a new cover was fitted ,all sealed up an was fine ...for 2 weeks, now its blowing oil from between the plastic cover and the head.its annoying when u pull into the garage to fuel up an the lasses run round like headless chickens in fear that the station might go up in flames.any help ,if anyone has a cure would be more than helpfull.
thanx, a rather cheesed of fletch
ps ive removed the oil filler cap an the engine isnt breathing ,so im sure its not pressurising etc causing the gaskets to leak.

im thinking of having a stainless system made for my 2.5 omega, do i by law have to have cats built in or can i not bother? ive read on an mot site that theyre not a legal requirement provided ur car meets omission levels,as its an ecotech engine is this true?

Newbie Welcome Area / hello folx,
« on: 02 November 2009, 15:30:52 »
hello folx, obviously im new here so im  new to the ropes. On saturday i bought "Dolly" the v6 2.5 saloon off Kate in sunderland now renamed " Olive" theres a story to that ile tell you later .She is the ex "guy Meadows " car an Guy is a damn good mate of mine.I wasnt really a fan of big luxury cars coz i thought they were  "out of my league " . But my mind was changed of this idea when on the 12th of sept , my wife and i were given the pleasure of Guys chauffering skills as he drove us to church and the reception in "Big Black Beastie " (many thanks again mate, was a lovely wedding gift and experience ). Well as Victor Kiam once said " i liked it so much , i bought the company " ... well not the company but a 2.5 v6 omega, love it to bits an cant stop opening the house  door to check its still there ,each time i pass the window i look out an admire it,hoping to give her a service asap an get out with the polish . Any way before i waffle on too much , shes been renamed "Olive" , my wife has a black Toyota Celica named "Cilla " (Cilla... Black....nothing to do with me !!lol)so with my new omega being green in colour has been renamed "Olive" .... im sure i need medication , right before i go an lay back on the trick cyclists couch , hope to make many new friends on here an get to some of the forthcoming meets ,catya all soon ,
                 Fletch an "Olive"

before the omega i owned 2 mondeos , never did anything to them other than routine work for mots,so decided  to buy a "supposed " "executive type of comfort car" in the omega and what a waste of time and money it has been. i hate the thing with venom , its spent more time in the garage than in my drive . ive worked my backside off for years and thought that after years of driving mundane runabouts id try something nice , comfortable and to show for the years of hard graft.Instead im having to graft harder to pay for repairs ....every other fortnight !!!! i knew i should have stayed a Ford driver, maybe boring and plain but at least theyre more reliable than the griffin badge piece if dog droppings i have the sufference of now owning !!!!! Vauxhall ?????? never again !!!!!!!!!!!!

General Car Chat / oil burning piece of junk !!!!
« on: 06 July 2010, 23:05:29 »
BoB is rapidly out living his welcome. im sick and tired of spending £50 repair bill each month to stop the cantankerous old pig from blowing his nearside rockerbox gasket !!! im rapidly beginging to blow mine, ive been told that the cheap cardboard sorry plastic covers that are fitted warp as they get older and that a certain modification will work.the mod being the fitment of the metal type that are fitted to v6 vectras.
has anyone out there made this mod? does it work? and before i get the usual " clear the breathers etc " this has been done, the engine isnt breathing so no pressure is building either.im about at the end of my tether ,i love the car but at this rate i will have spent enough on the old git to have bought another omega !!its his last chance before he gets the BIG BOOT !! can any body help please? also if this mod does work , does anybody know where i can get a pair of vectra covers please? ps i havnt got enough posts so cant ask on the wanted collumn...id probably only get laughed at or sarky comments . :-/ vectra ??? vectra ??? whats one of those??? >:( ::)
