Hi All,

My x reg Omega 2.2 estate has suddenly decided to discharge the battery whilst switched off. The battery is only about 6 months old. Disconnected the battery, every thing switched off and key removed, doors closed. Connected Amp meter between battery and battery connection. Inital current draw of just over 1 amp (noticed interior lights on) waited till the interior lights go out and still drawing approx 250mAmp. Removed and inserted fuses one at a time and came to the conclusion that there is a problem with fuse 7. Tried again with fuse 7 removed. No lights this time and only about 20milli Amp draw so its obviously the lamp circuit some where. Anyone tried finding out what the normal draw is when everything is switched off ?

I dont have a manual so not sure where to look next?
Any ideas guys ?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Window issue
« on: 11 October 2007, 10:53:33 »
Hi All,

I have a 2001 2.2 estate and the front passenger window is playing up. The window will go down but not back up. If you leave the car switched off for about 1 hour, turning on the ignition will close the the window
Is there some king of control box some where.

Looks like I need a manual, Are the "service" CD's sold on auction sites any good ?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Adjusting lights for driving on the right
« on: 04 June 2009, 15:26:11 »
Hi All,

I have an 2000 Omega 2.2 estate and I am going across to France next week. Having changed a bulb in the headlight recently I remember that inside the light units there is a metal lever which seems to adjust the lights in some way. Is this a left to right adjustment by any chance to save me using some tape or even yellow paint ? (Sorry but I dont have a manual for the car to check)

Omega General Help / Oil Leak
« on: 03 February 2008, 17:52:40 »
Hi all,

I have been looking into the oil leak on my 2.2 X reg estate. It appeared to be coming from the front as the drive belt and the cover at the lower front of the engine was covered in oil. I took the plunge and removed the cam belt cover and cleaned up the worst of the oil. After making sure all was out of the way I started up the engine and the oil appears to be coming from the behind the inlet side cam pulley.

The question is how is is coming out from there ? Is there a seal of some kind at the end of the camshaft or the pully ?

How do you change this seal ? cam cover off, remove cam shaft, replace and reassemble or can it be replaced from the front by removing the pully ?

regards

Omega General Help / Power steering issue
« on: 23 January 2007, 22:27:36 »
Hi,

My X reg 2.2 estate has a problem with the power steering. When trying to manouver at slow speeds, the Power steering seems to stop adding assistance. A slight push on the throttle and the assistance comes back until the revs drop off again. There are no noises such as slipping belts or screching bearings and no fluid leaks . Is there some kind of pressure relief or one way valve in the system ?

Do you think it is the rack or the pump ? :o

Any help appreciated

Omega General Help / EWL and MPG
« on: 11 December 2006, 10:44:52 »
I have an X reg 2.2 estate that has the engine light coming on now and again. It also has poor MPG mid 20's. I know there is a small hole in the exhaust just before the lambda sensor which is annoying as the rest of the exhaust is brand new! Am I right in thinking that the hole would affect the MPG and could cause the engine warning light to come on? What sort of MPG should I be getting from a 2.2 manual as I have only had the car a couple of months?

I will be fixing the exhaust this week so maybe I'll just wait and see but any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers
