Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Sat Nav (CARIN)
« on: 27 September 2010, 21:06:49 »
Just a thought (as if I haven't got enough problems) I have managed to retro fit a Carin to my Elite TD hybrid thingy.

Is it possible to connect the speaker output to the stereo rather like the nice lady from the Trafic Master is connected on some sort of external input (or disconnect Trafic Master nice lady and plumb it in there?? )

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Headlamp Field/Vision Fault
« on: 07 April 2009, 11:23:40 »
Thought i'd have a look at the headlamp feild/vision  fault i've been suffering with since I got my Elite estate, after checking and changing the level sensors to no avail I set about the next part in the chain.

Found this....

that will be a slight amount of water ingress then  :o

Don't suppose anyone has a good working one they could sell me ?? PN 90 565 805

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Odd radio thing
« on: 28 March 2009, 09:37:22 »
Not exactly a huge issue, just a bit odd. I have a '99 Elite with a CCRT700 fitted. This I believe has been decoded so I don't have to worry about disconnecting the battery  :-/ I've only had the car a week so I don't know much about that.

Anyway when I start the car the Radio just starts up on "MEM" and cycling through frequencies... never finds anything. It still holds the station presets so all I have to do is press "TUNER" a couple of times and i'm back to where I switched it off. Turn the car off again and restart again and it just forgets where it was and goes through the saga again.

Faulty ?? a result of someone else decoding it (why was that done ???) ?? or am i just being a bit dumb and missing something  :-[

Omega General Help / Bah Humbug.....
« on: 15 March 2011, 20:48:34 »
As every one remembers I took on the daftest project of 2010 when I swapped a V6 petrol engine for a BMW M51 diesel engine....

anyhow after much trouble and deciding that I had in fact knocked the injection timing out I decided that it was time to just give up and swap the engine... being very very careful.

This has resulted in a new batch of codes... 19,31 and 34. (Oh yes 31 whilst the engine is running :o )

I'm guessing that i have a dodgy crank sensor although the engine does tick over ok etc. Question is, does anyone know what the correct air gap is between crank sensor tip and timing pins on the flywheel, as it appears on mine to be miles away. I would have expected something around 50 thou but any thoughts ?

Omega General Help / Code 64... gone, just 2 new ones now
« on: 22 February 2011, 19:58:22 »
The hybrid TD Elite has at last dropped it's code 64, and swapped it for 2 new codes 34 (Injector timing) and 88 (MAF sensor).

Now at least I have an idea I may have caused the injector pump to slip a tooth when installing the engine/gearbox etc.

So is there a simple way of getting the pump off and realigning it without a major engine rebuild ??

Omega General Help / Code 64.. It rears it's ugly head again
« on: 21 January 2011, 00:21:54 »
2.5 TD

Thought this problem had gone away, but apparently not. Engine is very "top end" noisy (embarrassingly according to my g/f  :-[ ). Now mucho trawling of the web led me to change the fuel quantity sensor (oh what fun that was... NOT!!!!) and number 4 injector, with no change although I would have expected code 34 tbh. Now my next feeling is that perhaps when i fitted the engine I perhaps did manage to turn it backwards (I think someone suggested that -- GC ??) and therefore disturb the pump (but would i also get code 34 in that case ??

Any other thoughts before I get serious and swap the spare engine over with a known working pump  ;D Oh and 430 miles to a tank with little or no town driving doesn't seem quite right.

Yours frustrated....  :D

Omega General Help / TD Cooling
« on: 21 October 2010, 18:46:44 »
Do diesel omegas generally run cold ish... Mine doesn't generally even reach 80ēC on the gauge.

I know the gauge can be a bit inaccurate, but that does seem low... oh and I have no fan fitted

Omega General Help / 64 Fuel Quantity Control Out of Range
« on: 17 September 2010, 20:33:38 »
Well the only problem (other than the wrong coding for the autobox) I appear to be left with is Error 64. I have been through the check list for the Actuator as per TIS and have drawn a blank.

I guess as I have shaken a lot of stuff around I might have disturbed a load of crud and it's just bunging stuff up, so a general service would be the first step.

The car seems to run reasonable well other than idle, which it really struggles to do, misses etc

I guess I may have a pipe or connector on the wrong bit, but there is nothing I can see.

I'm no diesel expert so could do with a few poiters to look at.

I'm on holidays for a week from sunday, so I'm not going to be near the car to try stuff, but will try and keep in touch with the forum.... perhaps  ::)

Omega General Help / Reprogramming autobox ECU
« on: 15 September 2010, 21:00:18 »
Ok first "real" issue now i'm running. the autobox ecu still thinks it is being driven by a V6 rather than a TD.

Any one of you clever chaps/chapesses out there able to reprogram the ECU with a diesel map, oh and is reasonably close

Omega General Help / Flashing EML
« on: 01 September 2010, 08:58:35 »
As many of you know, I have been changing the V6 for a TD for the past couple of weeks. After much rewiring I try to start it and when I put the key in the ignition and turn to allow glow plugs etc, the engine management light starts flashing. I suspect that engine imobilisor doesn't like my key now. I have changed the ECU and the ring around the ignition lock, but as the TD key I had didn't have a chip (i dont think) I thought my key would be fine, or is it having a hissy fit because my (V6) key does have a chip.

I get fuel and the glow plugs do their thing but it won't start

Omega General Help / TD Vacuum pipe layout
« on: 25 August 2010, 17:15:57 »
Is there somewhere a schematic of the vacuum pipes on a 2.5 TD engine (ignoring heating bits for the time being) I just want enough to get the engine running as it should.

This is a non MAF engine (ie U25TD)

Thanks

Omega General Help / Self Leveling Suspension - Photo req
« on: 13 August 2010, 08:30:37 »
Anyone fancy having a root around under there car and taking a picture of the self leveling compressor and the brackets. This is for the TD variant, so not under the front wing (as mine is now, but need that space for intercooler). I have reason to suspect it's somewhere near the auto box. Whatever happens i suspect I may have to try an engineers approach and mount it up front somewhere, just to save to hassle of rerouting all the wiring and pipework

No hurry haven't got the engine in yet...  ::)

Omega General Help / Engine removal
« on: 08 August 2010, 17:24:45 »
V6 can it be removed out the top with the autobox still attached or is that a hugely bad idea ??
