Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDR400 code entry prob...
« on: 21 April 2007, 12:38:17 »
Ok, so silly mistake I Left my ignition on overnight, don't ask me why as I dont know  :(

Jump started the car and off to work I go. Go out to the car at break time and realise that radio is in safe mode. No problem, I know the code! (famous last words) Usual method, hold AS etc...
I enter the code and find that maybe my memory was not what it once was  :(
I try again....no joy  :(

Ok, thats me on 8 SAFE...I aint gonna play around, will wait till I get home

I get home and locate my correct code and try that...as I am trying it I get a beep and now it says 7 SAFE...geez I was having a bad day!!   I stop rushing and go to try again. Now all I get though is 7 SAFE and can't get it to bring up the 4 dashes for me to input the code  :-/

Have I done something wrong? what could I have done?

It definately says 7 SAFE and I definately have the correct code...but it just wont let me input it.

Any suggestion?

Omega General Help / Power/Fuel drop
« on: 09 August 2007, 09:08:47 »
Ok, a strange one for me but I am sure that someone out there will have a suggestion  :-/

There is one bend on my way to work where I slow down from 60mph to about 20 for a tight left hand bend. Recently my miggy has started to drop power as I am coming round the bend. It is as if she is starved of full fuel for about a second and then she picks up as normal and all is well again. This happens nearly every time I take that bend and I have never noticed it at any other time.

Yes, there is plenty of fuel in her (not running on fumes)
It was suggested that it may be a clogged up fuel filter...I put a new one on yesterday but it still happened this morning on my way into work. (The "How to" made it so easy  :y :y)

any suggestions?

« on: 07 January 2007, 10:41:02 »
Firstly, Hi....read through the site and love the friendly nature and helpfull attitude shown by you guys. A lot of the info here has helped / will help me a lot...thx  :)

I do have a problem with my 1998 2.0 16v Auto........I have a miss that I just cant clear...firing well enough but missing on 1 (can't remember which one at the moment...doh!).
Plugs and leads all seem fine
Any suggestions as to where a Noob like me should start in trying to resolve this? without taking her into my local dealer and paying out my next months wages hehe.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Ok, been struggling with this one for a few days now and as there is a lot of computer knowledge floating around in this great site of ours I thought I would ask for help.

I am upgrading 3 family PC's and decided to put AMD 64x2 4600 chips in them with new motherboards and RAM. I bought the gear for them and decided to spend yesterday and today building them.
Well I built 2 of them with no problems at all. Installed XP and they run like a dream  :)

But the 3rd system.....it is a nightmare. It is identical to the one I am using myself (and as you can see from the fact that I am posting it works ok). Same power supply, case, graphics etc etc..the only difference being that I am using a SATA HDD on mine and an IDE 80GB on the other.

When I try to install XP it sometimes will crash at random spots and just reboot itself. I have managed a complete install but then find that it wont open device manager or random other programs etc....very unstable.
I have installed to the IDE HDD on this machine and all seemed well, tranfered said HDD to the other machine and I get the instability again very soon. I have tried various HDD and just about every combination possible to try an eliminate what the fault could be....but no joy.

My PC knowledge is very limited when it gets this far in and I am at a loss to figure what is going wrong  :-[

Worse still this is S.W.M.B.O's PC that we are talking about...she is not a happy bunny!!

My thoughts (please ignore the ignorance of a non tech mind)

1)   Could it be XP related? using SP1 but a 64x2 chip? (32 bit as opposed to 64bit)
2)   Could it be the IDE HDD? (although it seemed to work in my pc)
3)   Could it be an instability on the motherboard? How could I tell?
4)   Could it be that I should throw the PC out and concentrate on my Omega instead?

Any advice would be appreciated as I really dont have a clue   :-/

Hey guys, been a while since I posted...all I can say is that the Omega is doing great thanks to the help and advice you guys gave  ;D...come to think of it...MOT next month ::)

Now can you resolve a problem for my father inlaw who is not computer literate and wants to smash the hell out of any car that does not have a dizzy that you can just adjust a little bit to resolve all problems  ::)

He has a 97 2.0 cavalier and all seems well...runs great and drives smooth...only problem is that once you turn the ignition off it runs on....although it coughs and splutters the only way to stop the engine is to stall it  :'(

Any suggestions as to where to start looking are welcomed !

Sat here at work and this email arrives...thought I would share the humour with you guys  ;D

Extreme tactics!

Proof of what can happen if a wife or girlfriend drags her husband or
boyfriend along shopping

This letter was recently sent by Tescos Head Office to a customer in
Oxford:

Dear Mrs. Murray,

While we thank you for your valued custom and use of the Tesco Loyalty
Card, the Manager of our store in Banbury is considering banning you and
your family from shopping with us, unless your husband stops his antics.
Below is a list of offences over the past few months all verified by our
surveillance
cameras:

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's
trolleys when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute
intervals.

3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to feminine
products aisle.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone,
"Code 3" in housewares..... and watched what happened.

5. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

6. September 15: Set up a tent in the outdoor clothing department and
told shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring sausages and a
Calor gas stove.

7. September 23: When the Deputy Manager asked if she could help him, he
began to cry and asked, "Why can't you people just leave me alone?"

8. October 4: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a
mirror, picked his nose, and ate it.

9. November 10: While appearing to be choosing kitchen knives in the
Housewares aisle asked an assistant if he knew where the antidepressants
were.

10. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously, loudly humming the
"Mission Impossible" theme.

11. December 6: In the kitchenware aisle, practised the "Madonna look"
using different size funnels.

12. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed, yelled
"PICK ME!" "PICK ME!"

13. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker,
assumed the foetal position and screamed "NO! NO! It's those voices
again.

And; last, but not least:

14. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited a
while; then yelled, very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here."

Yours sincerely,

Charles Brown
Store Manager

General Discussion Area / Just a quick thank you!
« on: 31 January 2007, 17:14:22 »
Having had an omega for the last 3 years and having paid countless repair bills for sensors and other bits and pieces (most of which meant absolutley nothing to me...and probably cost me more than it should) I ended up with my poor omega sat in the driveway whilst I drove around in a £100 rust bucket.

Needless to say I was gutted  :(

I accidentally wandered across OOF whilst sat looking to find an engine or even another omega and decided (after reading many interesting and helpful posts) to make a post myself and ask for some help.

I was amazed by the near immediate responce and the great advice that I got...in the end I have my omega back up and running and for less than what my local garage would have charged me for just telling me why my EML was on hehe

I just want to say THANKS!!! to those that helped me...much appreciated guys.

I may not say much in here, but rest assured that I surf here every night....should I be worried? and enjopy the banter that makes this forum a great place to be.

 :)

Dave
