Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Interior Light Oddity
« on: 14 August 2009, 02:43:18 »

Normally would expect the interior light by the rear view mirror to be on a delay when you close door.

This works as expected.

and would also expect that as soon as you turn the ignition key it would go out straight away.  This is not happening,  so it always stays on for the full period until it automatically times out. Could live with it, except for when setting off in the dark, its distracting.

I do confess to having pulled most of the trim out of the car, been running new wiring in the car, have had the steering cowl off to fit cruise control and have cut what I believed to be the correct wire to make the remote boot release work "properly"

2003/03 2.2DTi CD Saloon

Any pointers what bits of wiring might affect this?

Read some great information here and just started pulling my recently acquired Omega apart. Before I start installing a new head unit and amp, couple of bits of guidance would am sure speed me along.

Routing 12+ve from battery to boot, think I see the two large bundles of cables behind the pollen filter, do I just try and push my new 12v feed cable down the side of one of those?

Mounting the amp - I see a big space behind the spare wheel, has anyone tried to mount an amp there, and if so how. If not I plan to try and bolt amp under the rear parcel shelf, which I assume is what most people do?

Loom/Wiring Speakers - I assume I need to run new cables from each speaker to my amp in the boot.  Unless there might be anything already in the loom I can use?  I see there looks to be a wire to power the amp in the loom, on the big Blue plugs for the head unit - I wonder where that ends up for example.

Omega General Help / Coolant loss
« on: 03 August 2010, 13:01:24 »
Have a 2002 2.2 Turbo Diesel, just turned 72,000 miles, that coolant level is dropping on.

Can do 3 or 4 hours on motorway, at steady 65/70 and water temp stays under half, as it always has done.  But coolant level drops.

Dropped it into local garage, and they say it needs a head gasket.

Is this a common problem,  and I should just get it done, or should I get them to take a closer look for leaks?

Omega General Help / Location of Heater Bypass Valve (HBV)
« on: 04 August 2010, 14:13:11 »
Have looked at the guides and could not find my HBV against engine bulkhead as shown in the guides.   :-[

I poked around a bit and think I have found it,  could anyone confirm if it looks right.

My car is a 2003 2.2 turbo diesel.

2.2DTi CD 2003 Saloon, 50k miles, already put 10k on it, now to fix all the things I have spotted need attention.

Done many thousands of miles in Vauxhall's (1xCav/4xVectra/1xVX200) but this is my first Omega.

Already loving the forum members, saved me money and time.
