Omega General Help / steering box again..old topic i know but....

so you've been here before...
all new suspesion arms loaded with lembforder ball joints and bushes with polyflex.
all new steering ball joints,
new droplinks,
new idler arm,
new rear adjuster arms,
new rear donuts, febi blisteins.
tramlining cured,
all other rear bushes in good condition. surprised really there the originals....1999???
now the real issue is the play in the steering box,
yes its been adjusted and turned left to right to check for tight spots....
 also there is no play in the steering wheel or lower column.
the box lost power steering one evening after throwing it into a parking space and nearly putting a citroen c1 through an effing wall....scary it was, thank god for superior omega brakes....
the steering box is cluncking quite loudly into the cabin between twelve and three o'clock on the steering wheel.either direction.
with part time weak assistance.....
now is this a buggered box or not, any one please....
found a couple of rebuilt ones on fleabay for a reasonable price....
here they are 600€ a shot. new...

Omega General Help / rear/rear subframe mounts...not donut type

has anyone had any dealings with the rear/rear mounts on the subframe....
the pair close to the rear diff mounts....
finding new ones is a bit of a quest....
mine are all torn, including the front mounts (found and ordered)
the rear ones however..... any advice from the masses??

got all the bits together for fitting it to my 1999, 2.0l 16v. manual omega.
the four wire stalk, cylindrical brake switch, clutch switch.cc module....all the gear and no go..
any ideas where to look??
check the stalk, brake pedal switch and clutch switch....dont get it....help please ive been looking forward to this working for around a month.

trying to source one from ebay.... loads about but not to sure if they are all compatable..
dumb question maybe...but then we dont know it all do we....

Omega General Help / clutch switch/brake switch....

now then people, got a question for the masses.
ive got a brake switch from a 2.5tdi cdx auto used with the cruise control.
i am installing cruise control on my 2.0l 16v gls.
can i use the 2.5tdi brake switch on the 2.0l clutch pedal..both cars are 1999.
the brake switch in question is a black unit with a similar plug to my clutch switch plug, just half the size in width.
by connecting the wires to one side can i use the switch on my system???
any help would be appreciated.

do you swap the ecu when you swap ar25 for the ar35..
could the ecu be damaging my gearbox's...
i have stripped and checked all the pistons, thrust washers bearings, clutch plates, solenoids and oil seals.
no internal damage just mild wear and tear.
so what is it?
i live 30mile from the nearest opel garage and i dare'nt drive incase it goes pop, any help....any?

can the head lights be switched from rhd to lhd???
as there are no lines or markings on the lenses...
this is on a 97' S............

Omega General Help / box swap auto to manual

ok people in the know,
need to know what is required to change from an auto box to a manual, on a 99' 2,5td, bm unit.
after that if i can shove the hole lot into a 99' 2.0l chassis.
issues with wiring loom or plug and play like electric windows.
help please.

the engine is in very good condition. been well looked after by the previous guy. plenty of bottom end, nothing till about 3000rpm...is it normal....? :-?

can you or is it possible to retro fit electric windows into my 99, gls model from a 99 cdx model i know there are a lot of electrical fittings that can be used when retro fitting electric goody's. just wondered if this was the case for the rear windows :-? anyone??

ok.. bless me with info please.....
first, do i need to change the auto box computer from the ar25 to a computer for an ar35 or are they the same.....
second, have stripped the ar35 box into three sections to inspect and found little wear.
how do i test the little solenoids inside the box?
the washers and bearings are in good order,have found some wear on second and third on the drums where the plates have been pressed hard into them.

the symtoms are. box goes imediatly into limp mode from startup every time.
when you change manually from first to second it shudders and will jump out of gear then it will run and then shudder..

have checked oil levels, checked the exterior plugs and the selector switch, the box is pretty dry on the outside apart from the joint behind the selector.

........do you get into the g'box ecu to update the sofware??
how and where do you get the tools for the pc to do this?
i think the ecu is causing my gearbox to destroy second gear after constantly changing down to 2 then3 then down to 4 everytime it needs to keep up with the cruise control or going up hill....... :-?

i have the ar35 box in my 2.5td, it seems to have 5 gears, is that right,
apart from the drop a million gears to pick up speed on cruise, it seems to go from 3rd and you can hear the engine and see the rev counter drop down as if it is briefly goes into and out of 4th into 5th....
do i need the original box ecu that was on the doner car??? also she is very slow to pick up speed, sounds like you are riding the clutch all the time.... errr help.... :-? is there s fiver speed box ar35??

i found the torque settings here somewhere and i cant find it again.........
help me please....
ive got the cap of with the four bolts and have backed of the lock nut.
cant remember if it was 25nmeters or 5nmeters then back it off 5 complete turns???
anyone please..... :-/
