Many thanks

As above - I'm looking for the set of switches for electric windows/mirrors which sit in the drivers door of a facelift model.  Must be good condition.

Thanks!

Omega General Help / Auto - Sport Button
« on: 14 March 2011, 14:12:45 »
Occasionally my sport button does not work (no light, no change in acceleration).  I'm thinking it could be a switch problem (no warning lights, kick down works fine).  Is it possible to clean it?

Omega General Help / Manifold to cat exhaust stud
« on: 06 October 2010, 08:47:30 »
I have got to the bottom of the blowing exhaust on my estate - the manifol to cat join has only one stud holding it on!  Amazingly there is no sheared stud and the thread is completely clear.

Access is tight so my question is, what's the easiest way to get the new stud in?  Do I have to drop the whole lot first?  I was intending to do the 2 nut trick on the stud, but not sure this will be successful given the space available....

Any top tips?

Omega General Help / Fault code 0430
« on: 08 August 2010, 18:52:43 »
EML came on over the weekend

I have fault code P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

What does this mean?

I also have 1614 (key transponder) - but starts fine, and 1700 transmission service request.  I assume these are normal and wouldn't cause the EML to come on alone?

Omega General Help / Estate aftermarket parking sensors
« on: 13 July 2010, 13:10:58 »
Anyone fitted any aftermarket parking sensors on an estate?  I'd be interested to see some pictures so I know where to drill.  Is there much behind the bumper?

I've done this successfully on a pre-facelift saloon but not sure with an estate  :-?

Omega General Help / Broken Steering Column
« on: 21 January 2010, 20:27:56 »
Driving the car tonight I was getting a cracking noise on turning the sterring wheel - like cheap plastic snapping.  Took a sharp turn and the wheel jammed and I had to force it (with more cracking noises) to get it to turn.  It now intermittently cracks and gets stuck when turning, it frees itself under force.

Took the cowling off & this is what I see:

There is a rotaing disc behind the wheel which rotates with the wheel.  The black plastic housing stays put.  Something behind the disc is getting stuck as I can see the disc flex under stress before it 'cracks'.  It looks like the steering wheel has to come off to fix it (how??).

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Oil leak & knocking
« on: 13 August 2007, 11:15:25 »
In the absence of my usual oracle of knowledge  ;), hopefully you guys can help....

A couple of problems on my 1999 2.5 V6 CDX manual saloon:

1) Seems to be spewing oil out at quite a rate (approx 1l in 1-2 weeks).  Plenty of oil on the horizontal plate at the bottom of the front of the engine, and running around the sump.  Can't pinpoint where it's coming from but both cam cover gaskets have been renewed (approx 12 months ago) and there is no tell-tale burning smell.  there's a sensor at the front o/s bottom of the block - could it be coming from there?

2) There is a knock from the o/s when going over pot-holes, bumpy roads etc.  Checked all the obvious suspension mounts & linkages and the exhaust -nothing seems amiss.  Had new front wishbones earlier this year so probably (hopefully   :-?) not them.

Any clues??

Omega General Help / Climate sensor cleaning
« on: 27 July 2006, 14:23:29 »
I'm suspecting that my climate sensors aren't working properly - auto mode is pretty useless but when in manual all works fine (4 degees C, or 277K for us  :( chemists.....)

3 questions:

1) How do I remove the control panel to get to the sensor in the centre - I can only find a how to for a facelift?

2) Where is the footwell sensor located?

3) Will this stop the wife moaning?

...OK, so I already know the 3rd question is not possible, but I live in hope.........

Cars for Sale & wanted / '99 2.5 V6 CDX Saloon FOR SALE
« on: 06 July 2010, 19:38:46 »
1999 'T' plate 2.5 V6 manual CDX saloon. 120k on clock

Positives:
12+ months MOT - sailed through yesterday, no advisories.  Good service history, most work done by myself (or Marks DTM Calib) with plenty of receipts.  New back box & tracking 3 months ago. Fitted a replacement ABS ECU only last week and had oil/filter change last night.  Standard CDX spec with 6 disc autochanger, phone, full electric pack, ice cold climate control.  Reverse parking sensors and twin electric towbar fitted.  Before me it was owned by a community police officer (private, this is not ex-plod) and before that by the dealership. It really does drive excellently.  It is due a cambelt and will be fitted this weekend (or discount negotiated).

Negatives:
Drivers heated seat doesn't work (never has) and there is a very small hole in seat base (it caught fire - now completely disabled for safety).  The centre armrest has the usual bubble - apart from this the interior is unmarked and fully functioning.  Usual very small areas of rust around rear arches & bottoms of doors.  This has all been treated to stop it getting worse rather than try to bodge a full repair.  Only noticeable if you look. Drivers floor mat has a hole in it (genuine Omega mats - not the carpet which is fine).  Tax expires end July.

£900
