Omega General Help / Door lock problem

My Front Passenger door has decided to deadlock itself closed. All the other locks work perfectly and all batteries are in tip-top condition.

How the bloody hell do I open the door now?

Omega General Help / Error codes

A few weeks ago, I changed my heater matrix (excellent timing). At the same time, I managed to braket my immobiliser thing by the Ign barrel. Anyway, It's all sorted and running again, but I am getting errors.

I have got

• 55 - Replace ECU.
• 135 - Telltale (checklight) Voltage Low.
• 145 - Immobiliser Wrong Signal.

The Airbag light is also on.

I presume that 55 and 145 are because I have changed the Immobiliser and ECU, but I have no idea what a low Voltage at the Checklight means.

Any ideas how I can go about sorting these problems?

Yeaterday, I embarked upon changing the not-small-task of changing the heater matrix. But, somehow managed to break a rather vital part of the ignition/immobiliser system.

It's the bit that slides over the ign barrel - GM part no 09 118 300.

Basically, the ring that circles the barrel has got "damaged" and it turns out that there is a coil in there...which has broken. This now means that my car will turn over, but not fire.

I have put an post in the Wanted section, but what I really need to know is if there is anything else that I need as well as this? I presume that it is programmed to the key, so how can I get that done?

Omega General Help / Petrol smell in Coolant

I have been having a problem with coolant dissapearing somewhere. There are no external leaks, but I have to top of the tank every 100-200 miles or-so.

Yesterday, when topping it up, I got a strong smell of petrol from the expansion tank when I took the cap off. Is that something hinting at impending doom or could it be nice and simple (like me)?

Omega General Help / Dodgy brake light switch?

This morning, I had a problem getting my car out of Park. After swearing and shouting for 10 mins, I noticed that I could get the tell-tail click if I pushed the brake slightly sideways when pressing it.

Does this mean my switch is on the way out, or can anything be adjusted?

When I use the headlamp washers, the one side doesn't retract. is there something that can be done to fix this?

Omega General Help / Satnav not switching on

Why is my Satnav not working? It comes off Standby, but all options are greyed out other than Standby again.

So, it will switch on, but won't do anything. This problem is random too. It was working fine until I stopped for a break on the motorway, then it wouldn't work when I switched it on again...

At the moment it is working.

Any suggestions?

Omega General Help / Bloomin' misfire

This morning, I developed a misfire. It was fins for my initial 40 mile trip, then after standing for an hour, I started it up and it was missing. There was also a strong exhaust smell through the vents. Could a leaky exhaust cause a misfire? I also noticed that there was a tapping noise from the engine. Could this be unburnt fuel doing strange things?

I've had a look at HT leads and a general look round this lunch time, but I can't see anything amiss. It started ok, but after about 1/2 mile, the misfire came back.

I have recently put new sparkies in and done the cambelt, but I have done 500 miles since then.

Any ideas? I've only just put it back on the road after 3 months on the drive  .

Which pins on the loom do I need to check to see if my heated seat has an open circuit? I've got two drivers seats (not both fitted obviously) and neither work.

Omega General Help / Climate control won't reset

I have tried the "press the auto and off button together", but nothing happens. It used to work becasue I could hear it wirring, but now nothing.

Why??? The fuses seem to be OK.

BTW, I still have no heat.

Omega General Help / No change to heating...Broken Servo?

I have NEVER had the heating working in my car. This is what I have done so far...
1. Replaced HBV.
2. Flushed the entire coolant system (paying particular attention to the heater matrix).
3. Checked all Vac lines.
4. Checked that the link is attached to the servo under the steering wheel.
5. All fuses double checked.
6. Both inlet and outlet from the heater matrix are getting VERY hot.

When I tried to do a reset by holding the Auto/Off buttons down, nothing happended. No whirring, no changes, no movement in the servo under the steering wheel...nothing.

Where do I go next? it's beginning to bring me down.

Omega General Help / Sucky Blowy thing

I have embarked upon changing my (it turns out) extremely work cam belt. I followed the groovy DVD up to the point where the inlet bar type thing that goes across the cam belt cover from left to right. On the DVD, it was demonstrated that there is a one way valve in there. This demonstration was done by a blow and a suck...So, i repeated this on mine and ended up with a mouth full of shit.  [smiley=cry.gif]

I presume my valve thing has gone bye-bye.

What to I need to ask for to replace it? I can't really be asking for a sucky blowy shiney thing now can I?

Omega General Help / Seat Diagram needed

G'day one and all...
I have recently put a replacement drivers seat in my 98 Elite because the heated bits weren't working, but I still have no heat. The new seat was tested before I bought it and is believed to be working.

Has anyone got a wiring diagram for the seats so that I can do some fault finding?

Omega General Help / Yet another heating problem

I am at a loss…I am not getting any warmth out of the air vents. I’ve flushed the hell out of the coolant system, so I am 99.99% sure that it’s completely clear. I have changed the HBV for a new one, I’ve checked all of the vac pipes in the engine bay, I have reset the flap servos in the cabin and the pipes going through the bulkhead are really hot.

Omega General Help / Rattle

I have finally got round to changing my cam belt. When I started it up, all was sweeeeet, but there was a faint rattle in the cam area. It got steadily louder as the engine warmed. Not really loud, but just there when it wasn’t there before.

I thought that it may be a lack of oil as it hasn’t been started for a month-or-so, but I don’t think it is due to it getting louder as it got warmer (and presumably more oil being circulated).

Any ideas before I start stripping it again?
