Having looked at the excellent post about removing the cd changer part of this stereo it gave me an idea. The cd changer connects to the tape/tuner part by a ribbon lead, could this be used to connect an aftermarket cd changer (by appropriate adaptor)? My player is really struggling to play any cd now and it is doing my head in. Does anyone have details of the pin connections between the units?

Bit of a question for the technical gurus. Would it be possible to remove my 4 disc changer section of my stereo (think it is a 2006) and solder or fashion an ipod usb lead onto the connections where the cd changer used to reside?

Would it be possible to change the head unit and amp in a car with bose? What I mean is getting a new 5 channel amp running the speakers at 2 ohms, connected to a new head unit. Would it be easy enough to connect the bose speakers to the new amp or does the bose need to be removed completely and a complete new system put in (i.e. new speakers and wiring)

Hoping someone can help, my electric windows, mirrors and sunroof have all stopped working. I swapped changed fuse 13 and fuse 11 over but still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am finding the horn on the Omega to be a little Noddy like. I replaced my dads vectra horn a couple of years ago for a two tone horn. Is there a two-tone option for the Omega?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bonkers alarm

Hi, my alarm, siren sound not horn, has been going off all by itself and whenever it feels like it, sometimes with flashers other times without, sometimes short burst from the siren other times long. I was just driving up the road and I heard it whilst driving. So I came home took off the scuttle and removed the powersounder (black box thingy). Is this the likely cause of my problems?

I have noticed that a couple of my instrument panel bulbs have gone. Can anyone advise what kind of bulb to use? Are the high power led's any good for this? and is removal of the panel the same as the prefacelift?

Hi, first technical post, please be gentle. I am getting an Omega Elite with the Bose system and have seen a few posts saying that the headunit cant be changed because it needs line outputs.

Could this solve the problem?

Has anyone changed their sidelight bulbs to get a closer match to the xenon headlights? I have seen a few led W5W bulbs that look good but is their any issues with the on board diagnostics? Only asking as I know you cant do it on my Vectra, throws up a bulb warning.

Does anyone know any manufacturer of rear coil springs for an Omega with self levelling. I have looked on here but it only says that it is different to the cars with normal suspension?

Omega General Help / Wiper linkage

My wipers started playing up last week, they were making a grinding noise so I have removed the linkage. The spline for the driver side turns freely but the other is stuck and needs a hammer hit to move it. I take it they should both turn freely? Can you remove the spline and clean it up?

Omega General Help / Car running well, but cold?

I had this problem over the really cold spell. I thought it must be the thermostat and changed it for a brand new one, but it still seems to be happening? It will heat up around my stop start driving but when I get onto the motorway the temp seems to go down. Any ideas?

Was bored on the nightshift so decided to look into ways of tuning the 2.6 lump. What would be the best cams to put into a 2.6? Have seen figures of 195bhp with the cams from a 3.0 but would the 3.2 cams be better?

Omega General Help / Genuine thermostat

Does anyone know who manufactures the genuine thermostat for a 2,6 Omega?
I bought a thermostat from eurocar parts and it wont seal to the block or the transfer pipe. I managed to get the old transfer pipe out (with great difficulty), are there any tips on putting the new one in when I get it? or do I just work from the thermostat back to the rad one piece at a time.
