Cars for Sale & wanted / FS 52 Plate Elite Estate 2.6 Auto

Due to a change in circumstances my miggy has to go.

It's  Tax'd until the end of Jan 2013, and tested to end of Oct. It has covered just short of 114k miles.

Full history up to 82 k, and partial thereafter. I have done bits and bobs during the year or so I've had it, including cam cover gaskets and HBV. Cambelt needs changing.

It's currently on unmarked CDX alloys as I happened to have a set in the garage with good tyres (two are brand new, two have a good 6mm on)
I do have the original late spec elite alloys which could do with a refurb and need new tyres and I will include these in the sale if the price is right,

Car is in good running order and has never given me any issues.

Bad points
Rust coming on rear drivers arch and on bootlid as normal
Phantom sunroof, very infrequent.
Normal stonechips etc, no deep scratches dents or anything else nasty.

Good points
Towbar
Solar reflective windscreen
Tidy Interior
Everything works!
No fault codes

I'm looking for £1000 ono

Omega General Help / Coolant loss

Just a quick confirmation needed please.

Been parking on my drive wrong way round recently, front down the slope instead of the normal front up the slope, and I noticed a wet patch on the drive under engine.
I hadn't got round to checking it out when today the coolant level warning came up, I had a look and have lost just over a litre.

I suspect HBV from what I've read and where the wet patch was on the drive, is there an easy way to spot a leaking HBV i.e. from where can you see it?

Any other likely causes or is HBV the likely candidate?

General Car Chat / Meriva crank sensor - Help please

Hi Guys, was driving the wifes 1.4 meriva today and it cut out while decelerating at about 40mph. Spanner light was on and it took a couple of attempts to restart it. Done pedal trick and it's P0335 crank sensor. Does anyone know where it is on the meriva? I did one on a mig last year but thought I'd ask before getting cold an mucky!

Omega General Help / Gear selector switch

Hi all,
 How easy is it to clean the selector switch and how long should it take? I've read the guide and I must say I'm not that sure about using multimeter and the lining up parts, and reading some posts it either doesn't always work or people get it wrong.
Would it be simpler to just swap it?

I have the christmas tree lights and occasional TC and spanner light.

When on radio or cd player the stereo intermittently "drops out" if it was just on cd I would say it is exactly like a scratched disc.
Any ideas?

Just to say to all how good this site is but what is even better is the people that are involved in running it.

I think that the fact that people you have never met are prepared to take time out of their day to call with suggestions as to how to fix problems is bloody fantastic.

Hi all, having a problem with a flat battery.

When I charge it up It's good for about a week (daily use) but then all seems well and the starter will turn (and sounds normal, not sluggish) but car doesn't fire.
After a few attempts battery will die, but when I connect jump leads it goes first time.

I was wondering if the alternator was the problem would I get any fault codes or other symptoms?

Battery charges well on the bench and all cells seem active, don't want to fork out for a battery if alternator playing up.

My on/off button for the above seems to have a mind of its own sometimes you press it to turn on and nothing happens, sometimes it works fine, and sometimes when I want to turn it off and press the button it goes off but then comes back on again.
Sometimes i'll be driving along with it off and it will come on by itself!
Anyone else had this fault and is there a solution?

Hi, got a weird problem. Thought I needed to replace my servotronic relay for power steering as sometimes i get full assistance and sometimes limited, I know it's not a pump problem.

However i noticed today that speed dependant volume is not working nor are any of the speed dependant calcs for economy, trip distance etc.

Speedo, abs and traction control all work fine, any ideas?

Stupid question maybe, on the estate I have the bee sting aerial and was wondering if it's broke?

I can pull the rubber antenna bit off leaving a short metal stub (about 2") that has a wire coming out which is bent over the top of the metal part.

this doesn't seem to be connected to the actual antenna, should it be?

Hi, I have (I believe) standard headlights and they are pretty poor. Main beam is fine bit on dip beam the light is not good, I've had omegas before and always had the same thoughts about the headlights, probably why the introduced the HID.

Anyway I've seen some rally H1 bulbs that are 100w and some at 130w, I know these aren't road legal but technically would they work ok? or would something melt/burn etc?

Omega General Help / Whistling noise under hard acceleration

As above really when hoofing it in sport mode get a whistling noise at top of the revs, noise seems to come from the front of the car.
Definately more of a whislte than a screach.
02 2.6 elite.
Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Cam cover gaskets

When replacing cam cover gaskets how long do i need to leave it for sealant to cure before starting engine?

Last time I left it over night and planning to do the same but just wanted to know as it's not mentioned in the guide.

Is the colour of these normal, they seem very bronze.
