Hi,

I have just finished changing both the head gaskets on my 1999 3.0L Omega, on and off it has taken about 2 months. But now it just wont start, I have double checked all connections to no avail.

I have checked the fuel and ignition relays and although there is power coming to them OK there is no earth pulse from the ECU to pressurise the fuel rail before trying to start it. If I bypass the relay and pass power straight to the fuel pump the pump works OK so not a pump issue.

The only thing left I can think of that's causing it is the key transponder has lost sync with the ECU. I have  been using the key manually for about a year after the battery contacts came apart, but with the car battery disconnect for a couple of months is it possible to lose sync?

Any ideas?
Cheers
Phil

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / BOSE default volume adjustment?
« on: 22 September 2011, 13:08:44 »
This is really doing my head in but I cant for the life of me work out how to change the default volume on my BOSE PHILIPS in a 1999 Elite. I have to turn it up after every time I restart the car.
I found a work around, by turning if off before switching off the ignition it will then come back on at the same volume, but I normally forget to.

Does anybody know if and how it can be done?

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Injector common, +ve or -ve?
« on: 12 September 2011, 19:22:40 »
I am hardwiring my LPG loom into the injector loom but I need to know if the common is +ve or -ve.

Ive tracked through the Haynes wiring diagram and think it is +ve as I've always come across before but just wanted to be 100% sure before cutting anything.

can anybody confirm?

Cheers
Phil

Ive just refitted the X30XE engine in my 1999 Omega Elite and have a "spare" wire connector which for the life of me I cannot work out where it goes. Its a two wire connector the comes out of the plastic loom case that runs adjacent to the cam cover and plenum on the oil filler cap side, the wire exits the case just below the idle valve and in front of the oil filler neck. Has any one any ideas where it is supposed to go?

Many thanks in advance,
Phil.

Omega General Help / code 16 knock circuit 1.
« on: 21 August 2011, 17:50:20 »
Hello,

I took my inlet manifold off my 3.0 yesterday to fit the one id set up with the LPG conversion but it wasn't running right afterwards and was giving a code 16 "Knock circuit 1" message, I assumed it was part of the LPG throwing it up so removed it all and refitted the original manifold but the problem has not gone away, it shows intermittent loss of power especially noticeable when pulling off. Ive some spare knock sensors I was going to try but does anyone know which side No1 is? and do you recon that will cure the problem?

Cheers

Hello,

Just did a full fault code check on the car this evening and found a few which I expected but also one for the gearbox which is slightly worrying the messages is:

"My Naff Code Reader" - KW2000 Communication Window> 1999 (X)|Omega-B|Transmission|AR 25/35

Keyword #1: 6B
Keyword #2: 8F

Does anyone know if this code is referring to an internal solenoid or the actual gearbox control unit not being recognised?

The gearbox all works fine as far as I can tell and I recently did an oil and filter change on it. But if there is a problem Id like to get it sorted.

Omega General Help / Bad engine rattle :-(
« on: 30 December 2010, 19:07:26 »
Hello,
Ive had my Omega 3.0 Elite for a couple of months now and have been really pleased with it. But on the way home this evening the engine has started to sound like a Diesel, has a lumpy idle and lost power. It didn't overheat, isn't smoking and has oil in it. Although it has done 135K it is as clean as a whistle and all works so I am reluctant to just give up on it and scrap it.
Any ideas what it might be? Do the followers give trouble? If its cams is it a dear job, or would I be better off just getting another engine for it.
Thanks is advance,
Cheers
Phil.

I am after a V6 front crank pulley, the toothed one that holds the cambelt, not the Veebelt one. Can anybody help? My engine is a X30XE, but I understand all the V6 ones they are the same.

Many thanks
Phil.
