Omega General Help / Boot spoiler fitment
« on: 01 April 2010, 10:49:03 »
hi guys

just a quick question, does a irmscher boot spoiler from an omega b up to 99 fit on a facelift boot??

most sellers on ebay say up to 99 but im sure ive seen the flat type spoilers on facelifts and they seem very similar?? is the profile of the bootlid that different?

thanks

 ;)

Newbie Welcome Area / hi im not new but been away for ages
« on: 31 March 2010, 17:00:30 »
Hello guys and girls

I used to be on here a bit, I've had 3 omegas previously (2.0dti :-[ 2.5 cdx and a 2.6 cd facelift) when the 2.6 decided the best thing it could do was burn itself into nothingness i gave up on omegas for a bit. I went of and bought myself an impreza wrx, and then another and then an sti type r.

Now the sti was fun and unbelivalbly quick, but i suppose I've grown up, it cost me £10 to go to town and back, a 12 mile round trip.

So she went the way of the ebay,  I was sitting there thinking well what shall i get now?? One evening a few to many beers conspired with ebay and I bidded on an omega. Shes a v reg facelift 2.5v6 cdx and shes lovely glad im back in the fold.

pics to follow

oh and she was a bargin at £600 although the second weekend was spent renewing the rocker cover gaskets as the old girl was having toruble holding her drink.

these are the three things that wind me up the most while driving, whats everyone else's??

1. people that think you are to close behind and slam on their brake, its one of the most dangerous things that happens

2. when your following someone for mile after mile at a constant 45mph wether it a b road or though  a 30mph area they stay at 45mph, and then when you have an oppoutunity to pass then beep and flash and have a fit cos you have overtaken them.

3. same as above but try to hold you off. idiots

number 2 is normally a flat cap in a rover, and 3 tends to be someone in a corsa or a ford ka that seems to have takes its bumpers from some sort of spaceship.

we really should have more traffic cops to sort these idiots out. thats my only reason agaisnt cameras, they dont catch the numpties that are not speeding but are causing just as much trouble. thanks

General Discussion Area / dont use your ashtray for pennies!!!!!
« on: 30 April 2007, 13:07:26 »
just thought i would mention a major headache that turned out to be a simple problem.

the air con on my facelft kept cutting out and blowing the fuse, this also stopped the power steerring from working. loacl vx dealer had a look and said they would need it in for a day or so to investigate, so i tought id have a look before laying out a days labour with no garuentte of results. anyway long story short, there was a panny lodged in the fag lighter, causing a short circit that kept blowing the fuse, once removed everything is fine!!

thanks guys

General Discussion Area / 3rd post and a little omega story
« on: 26 April 2007, 00:41:05 »
hi everyone kinda new and this is my third post

im on my third omega now and its finally a beauty

i started with a s reg 2 litre dti wasnt lookign for an omega just needed a diesel for work, and fell in love, even thou it was a gold gls

the fuel pump decided it wanted no more at 100.00 miles so that was the end of that

then i founf an old m reg 2.5 cdx manual on ebay and managed to get it for £250! what a brilliant car!

the deal was sealed and i knew i had found a car i was happy with so comfy and quick!

i then happened upon a 2002 52 plate cd 2.6 manual at a auction and stcuk my hand up and got it for £1800 bargin and brilliant! but on the way home horror! goin up a hill on the m4 the oil light flickered and i though ow no ill have to look at that at the next junction, by the time i was just halfway through that thought bang bang bang! i managed to get towed off the motorway by my friend who gave me a lift to the auction. try towin an omega by bar with a peoguet 306. stopping was interesting to say the least!

anyway got it home on a tralier and then spoke to my local garage, they advised the best thing to to was try get an engine cos u never knwo how much damage has been caused.

a week later i was so happy! i got a 30.000 miles engine for £450 from a breakers in scotland via findapart, and the boys at the garage swapped it for  £150!

also put a belt on it for me

so from disarter i now have a 2002 cd manual for

£1800 (car)
£450   (new engine)
£100 cam belt
£150 fitting engine

so £2500 for a omega with a engine thats done 30.000 is that good?

adn i really owe the guys at the garage, there no a bog operation, and ive known them for about five years, offer cash for a job and the price is amazing, the did the clutch just last week for £50 min i had to buy the part sepperatly for £260, but i get trade at the local autoparts store cos that guy that works there used to work for my uncle

what a fantastic car and im so glad i found this forum!!!!

oh and im 25 and the insurance is £280 fully comp i got 5 year ncb is that good?

thanks again guys!
