Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Replacing headlamp bulb query
« on: 18 September 2012, 13:00:03 »
53 plate Vec 2.0 dti elite (non xenon).  I  have replaced the drivers side dipped beam headlamp bulb, now indicator lamp comes on steady (ie not flashing) with headlights. Indicators work normally with and without headlights. Also getting a message on display to check the parking light.  I have checked for trapped wires etc that may be causing a short, cant see anything obvious.  Does anyone have any ideas Please?

Hi please excuse a Vectra question on an Omega forum, but due to the current economic climate I have downsized.
The car is a 53 plate 'new shape' Vectra 2.0 dti elite. the problem is the climate control/air con  dont appear to be working, the car completely steamed up inside last week when on a 100 mile trip. I think the servos may need synchronising. Can anyone tell how, please? Or any other suggestions (polite ones only please).

General Car Chat / mot test advisories
« on: 09 March 2012, 13:59:22 »
Bought the Vec last year with full 12 months test, couple of advisories re track rod ends. Driven for year and not touched track rods/ends.
Passed mot this year with advisories on battery clamp (missing) and one brake pipe slightly corroded. Was expecting at least advisory on track rods, but not mention, which is good news for me, but seems strange, bearing in mind I've done 23000 miles between tests.
Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Intermittant loss of rev counter
« on: 14 February 2012, 13:59:55 »
The car is a Vectra 2.0 dti cdx  y reg 114000 miles, which I believe uses the same engine as some Omega dti's.
The scenario, when starting engine from cold, usually starts without too much problem. After driving 2 to 3 miles, rev counter suddenly drops to zero and engine emissions light comes on. Engine seems to run fine but feels very sluggish and underpowered (especially uphill). When engine idling sounds a bit rough and feels as if its about to stall, but picks up when accelerator pedal pressed. Also trip computer stops registering mpg and fuel range. After a few minutes every thing returns to normal. The problem only started last week after the car had been in for its mot. Passed test with no mention of anything untoward.
Has any one else encountered similar issues?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / philips ccr600 connectivity
« on: 18 November 2011, 13:05:07 »
Please excuse a Vectra question on an Omega forum. The car is a Y reg Vectra 2.0 dti cdx with a Philips ccr600 radio/cassette head unit and a glove box mounted cdc3 4cd autchanger. The cd has developed a laser fault, and I have been told its not wirth repairing. When I bought the car, the previous owner left a Blaupunkt cdc2 W1G cd changer in the boot (GMCDC2 W9308701 stamped on the side of the unit), not connected, but told me it works.  Is the Blaupunkt unit compatible with the head unit? will the steering wheel controls still work? Do I need any extra leads?
If any one can advise please as my kids are complaining about the lack of their cds.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / mileage led display
« on: 13 May 2011, 13:05:35 »
Please can some one help? The LED mileage/trip display in the speedo has suddenly stopped working. I'm hoping its just a blown fuse. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box under the steering column, to no avail. Is there something else I should check, or do I need to resort to the dealers.

Omega General Help / Can I use Bio Diesel?
« on: 15 April 2011, 13:29:18 »
Can any one tell me if my Y reg Vectra 2.0 dti will run on bio-deisel without any problems. I did run my previous car an Omega 2.2 dti on bio-diesel for approx 10000 miles, but ended up with fuel injection pump failure. Not sure if there is a connection, as the meg had had several owners, and was highish mileage, with an unknown service history, and was only regularly serviced during my 12 months of ownership.

Omega General Help / omega fuel injection pump failure
« on: 31 January 2011, 23:42:19 »
Can any one help me please. I drive an 02 model Vauxhall Omega 2.2 dti cd estate with about 130000 miles, over the past year has run on a variety of diesel from Tesco, Asda and Siansburys also Shell and Esso and more recently from October onwards Bio-deisel in various blends upto approx 90% bio to mineral fuel. My problem occurred approx 3 weeks ago. At lunch time I came out to the car to make a phone call, using hands free kit in the car, engine running, ticking over to keep both car and phone battery charged. No problem. Came out of work at teatime to go home, car wont start. Called breakdown service, car taken home on tow truck. My local garage think its the fuel injection pump, but now tell me to take the pump out is a major task involving specialist equipment and tools which they dont have. Is this correct or am I being fobbed off? A reconditioned pump has been quoted at £600-£800 depending on exact model. I am wary of committing to a new pump if the cause is something more straightforward. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Sadly I have had to part company with my much loved 2.2.dti cd estate. See my original post re fuel injection pump failure back in January. The repair bill made it economically senseless, with the mot due at the end of March. The car will be greatly missed by myself and my 3 kids, whose only complaint about the car was having to use a blanket on the the leather seats to stop the booster seats from squeaking.
Many thanks to all the members and enthusiasts who offered advice and comments. I will certaintly consider buying another Omega, but for now I have t0 be grateful for the Omegas replacement, a Vectra 2.0 dti dcx.

General Discussion Area / why ask?
« on: 07 April 2011, 13:01:49 »
Having changed the car recently from an Omega to a Vectra, I have tried to register on the Vectra owner forum.
The first question as part of the registration is 'enter your date of birth.'
Having had my debit card scammed in the past, I am very cautious about giving out too much personal info. Needless to say I did not proceed with the registration. Can any of the Omega owner moderators please tell me why you would need info like date of birth?
