Personally I think all flight cost/tickets should be based on your weight plus luggage. That way you for the fuel you use, and the airline know in advance how much you weigh and it would work out cheaper for me  ;)

Omega General Help / Re: Can you buy underlay / sound proofing new?
« on: 16 January 2013, 13:18:23 »
A few car's ago I had a Shogun Pinin and I thought the sound proofing wasn't very good, so I just used regular 8mm carpet underlay and a spray adhesive. I put it in the doors and behind all the panels, it worked perfectly  ;)

I can't remember the exact sound reduction but it was a very noticeable reduction above 50mph

General Discussion Area / Re: Veggie Oil run cars
« on: 02 January 2013, 11:26:57 »
The best diesel's to run on oil are old Mercedes and the Peugeot/Citroen engines.

I used to have a Ssangyoung Musso 2.9d which uses as old 5 cylinder Merc engine - it ran on neat oil with no modifications at all, in cold weather I'd just mix in a little diesel. The cheapest cars for it are probably old 406's, 306's and old Mercs.

If you've got a modern diesel I think it's only really the VW group diesels that will be happy on it, but they're all very efficient anyway.

I'd recommend a Shogun Pinin - I had one for a while and it was a great little car, and if in 2wd pretty good mpg - and very capable in mud and snow (you can lock the diff)

I've just ordered a new system for £109 from France (I think - maybe Poland) and it's from the cats back...  you won't get a system that cheap with cats

We've just returned from a trip to Wales. Filled the tank and the light came on after 378 miles. Not sure if that's good or not as I've no idea how much fuel the Omega tank holds.  :y

I reckon I could squeeze another twenty miles at a push. :y

On a long trip - Fareham to New Quay (in Wales) I've done the round trip on one tank before...  490 miles (ish)

Trip computer showed about 33mpg

It's not that cheap (to new customers anyway) but I use NewNet - I'm on an old package so pay the old rate...  but I get 18mbps through ADSL - in real terms I get about 1.7MB download speeds and totally unlimited.

I generally get through about 100-130gb a month  8)

General Car Chat / Re: To cruise or not to cruise
« on: 07 November 2012, 16:51:26 »
Cruise will use more fuel - however the difference will be minimal... You'll notice more of a difference in an area with lots of hills/long gradients.

Best is to allow the car to speed up slightly on downhill sections and then allow it to slow gradually with a fixed throttle position.

Omega General Help / Re: fuel consumption
« on: 05 November 2012, 09:45:24 »
Hi All,

I've just done my first long trip in mine...  Fareham (Hampshire) to West Wales, 242 miles each way...  did the whole trip on 1 full tank, I got 33.4mpg overall. Not bad I don't think considering I took a lot of stuff up there so the car was quite heavy.

**If you look in your handbook near the back there's a consumption table for all the models at set speeds

It's a different car - but my '95 elite estate (3.0l) with the cruise set to 70 seems to average about 33mpg

My '95 elite estate has them...  not sure they really do much though.
