Omega General Help / Re: overcharging alternator 2.2Dti
« on: 29 July 2015, 17:29:47 »
Yep, ordered and fitted a new regulator/brush pack and it now works fine.......except the radio won't come on. Hopefully not fried!

I take it the 2013 has a fuse at the back of the unit, only I need the removal tools (which have been ordered) to get it out to have a look.

Yep, though it would be. When it stops raining I will pull out the alternator, get the model number and see what's about.

Typically, I don't normally use the car much during the week but now have a week off and "was" going to go out and about...... Still could be worse I suppose!

Omega General Help / overcharging alternator 2.2Dti
« on: 26 July 2015, 10:34:00 »
Out on a run yesterday and the charge light flickered on the went out for a few seconds only to be followed by the light coming back on an all the clocks going off. Managed to drive it back home, checked the charge output and it is about 17v with the battery gassing away nicely! I take it the reg pack has gone.

I would assume there is nothing else in the system that may trigger the charge output to go so high. I also assume that I can get the reg/rectifier pack separately for the alternator. Anybody able to confirm this?

Not sure of the alternator model yet as it is pouring down at the moment so I have not got the alternator off as yet, just thought I would put it out there to see what's already known..

I concur with all of the above, I have bought various bits from him in the past and they always arrive just as described and promptly. If I ever need anything else he will be the first place I look. :y

Omega General Help / Re: Fix aircon or tint windows?
« on: 01 July 2015, 19:42:56 »
After today with the temp outside at 35C on the M23 I would say fix the aircon all day as it is a much better solution than tinting the windows and just being hot in the dark!!

Lovely and cool while it lasted. :'(

I really did not want to get out of the car when I got home but well I sort of had to for dinner you know ;D

hi,
thanks for replies.
mines a manual not auto so thankfully i dont need to change the gearboxes.

i was planning on chipping it, but wanted to make sure before hand that there wasnt a fault with mine before i went ahead and had it chipped.

the black airbox was cracked on mine (the one that reads turbo diesel) ive since replaced it and thats improved it but still sluggish and i still cant feel a turbo kick in, is this normal on these as ive never had one before.

havent serviced it yet, on my next to do list.

thanks.

Somebody not quite awake yet?

Glad it all went well and you had some decent weather to go with it.

Unfortunately the nice weather meant "May Day" run for me but I will try and catch up at another meet.

All the best.

Omega General Help / Re: Waxoyl under sealant

Waxoil is s product of the past, times have moved on as previously mentioned.

Have a look on "Frosts"(.co.uk) website as they do some more update and much more efficient stuff.

Why not just rub them down and lacquer them, worth doing if you are going to bin them anyway.

1000 wet n dry, wet will do it nicely and you don't even need to take them out, well I didn't when I did my last ones.

Yes, you can use it the lazy way (not so good round London due to so many FM stations on top of each other!) where you just use the inbuilt FM modulator (DAB unit can even be mounted in boot!) to get the signal to your head unit or you can do it the proper way which has no interference at all by putting it inline with the aerial lead which I must say gives excellent results. :y

My head unit is same as yours NCDC2013 with colour Satnav and Bose.

I modded the stubby aerial to take the mast from my Hirschman DAB amplified aerial and put the amplifier section between the roof and the headlining, a bit of a task but it works and I had it to hand from my last install.

Look on Web/YouTube for Kinetic Digitizer, you can even download the manual for it I think, that might help you.

Nokia kit great for hands free and are cheap and neat but I would not want to use it for streaming music (if it does which I don't think it does!) as it is only mono and mine uses the factory fitted input for the phone kit, the quality would be dire!

If I want to input music I use my Kinetic digitiser DAB as that has an aux input, though I have tried it I rarely use it as most of the time I am listening to the DAB on one station or another.
