That's what I was thinking - 0420/0430 like the 3.2's get?  :-/

Although on the subject of 0420/0430 - my 3.2 did get that a few weeks after I bought her approx 18months ago >:(, and then magically self-healed once I'd had a new exhaust system fitted (both mid sections and the rear box).  New exhaust was fitted back in Jan, had code reset, and it's never appeared since!  (fingers crossed I ain't tempting fate...!  ::) )

Hmmm, bugger bugger!  That has got me thinking now...

When I took me Mig round to AndyB's why he (very kindly indeed  :y) sorted oil change out for me, he noticed a dust-cap was missing from one of the air-con filling points.

He unscrewed the other one that was in place (he was going to see if it fitted the missing one, so he could size it against any he had knocking about), but it started hissing a bit, so it was tightened back up sharpish!  ;D

Andy - if per chance you see this bud - if I remember rightly, you mentioned somebody else on the forum had a similar problem, and it's just the valve that needs changing, not the whole pipe?

Can't remember who it was can you, so I can see if they have the part no?  It'd be useful to have the Part No for when I go to see one of the, ahem, two Lesley's on the parts desk  ;D  ::)  :y

Cheers chaps  :y

But I thought that even with naff-all gas, the fans would kick in with ECO off?  :-/

Omega General Help / Climate/Air Con not kicking in...
« on: 26 March 2010, 22:33:42 »
Typical - first day where I've needed air con, it ain't worked!!  >:(

I know the compressor doesn't kick in if the temp is below 5degC, but even in winter (when the temp is 5 or above) I knock the ECO off on the climate control panel for at least half my journey, just to keep everything nice n lubricated (ooh err...!  :-[  ;D )

It was working fine this morning (rev's dipping slightly when ECO turned off), but on my way home from work, when I turned ECO off when I got in the car, I noticed the rev's didn't drop.  Tried it another couple of times, but no joy.

The fans kick in as they should when the coolant temp gets to 90degC on the gauge.

When I got home, I lifted the bonnet and turned ECO off again.  The compressor wasn't spinning, and the fans weren't kicking in.  I had a similar issue in my last Mig, where the compressor wouldn't kick in, but the fans did - took it for a re-gas, and it worked fine.  On my Mig before that one, neither the air con compressor nor the fans kicked in with ECO off - I traced that to a blown fuse 14, which I changed and then it worked fine.

Fuse 14 is fine (first thing I checked, given the fans weren't kicking in either).

Anybody got any ideas???

Cheers folks  :y

You may be best posting a pic of the split up for some advice?

Bu depending on how big the split is, some silicone sealter in the same colour may do the trick?

....., last time i felt the back end do that was on a Senator. Pulling away in a straight line fine, but put a fair bit of lock on and boot it, felt the back end juddering slightly. Which went as soon as it was pointed straight,  ......

My Senator did that before I replaced the donut bushes in the rear radius arms!  ::)  ::)  ::)

This felt like LSD slip

That is something I'll have to take your word on then. I've never had the pleasure of playing in a car with a LSD  :y

Mine has an LSD!  :y

More than likely the heater pad has gone.  Tends to be drivers side that goes first, due to that seat being used the most.

Any pointers would be appreciated  :y

I had to errr? persuade my parcel shelf to come out with a bit of brute force. The shelf had been glued in with a little stray glue from the rear screen  :-?  ;D  ;D  ;D

Now that sounds like it was fun!!  :D

I had the same prob with OAB as you might know the radio was hit or miss .I found that it had a telescopic aerial shoved up under the dash  :D . So decided to investigate the amp as i was changing the shelf anyway to put a rear blind in like rob say`s the amp was there but i changed it incase it was fubbared but still no joy next i checked the aerial wire and found it had been cut behind the fuse box did a temporary repair with tape and its still like that to this day i just listen to cd`s more now  :y send me a p.m if you need any help i`ll gladly assist

Hiya J - yep, the reception was hit n miss with OAB, didn't think anything of it really (and no, the aerial mast shoved up the back of the dash was nothing to do with me!!  :y )  OAB came with the CD player already installed, but my current one didn't.

It was only when I couldn't find the aerial wire anywhere that I ended up getting this window-mounted Blaupunkt jobbie.  I'm doing a heck of a lot more miles these days than I did when I had OAB, so need the radio to keep me sane.  This Blaupunkt effort just isn't up to the job - I could be sat right on top of a radio transmitter and it'd still be cr@p reception!!  >:(

Is it easy enough to get to the back of the fuse box?  I think I'll try that route first before I start taking the parcel shelf off.

Thanks for that Rob!  :y

And thanks for the offer of the amp and cable - appreciate it  :)

Something else I'll be cracking on with tomorrow!  Not got a clue what to expect under the parcel shelf though, because I don't know if our boys in blue just cut the aerial cable off somewhere, or just specify the cars without the amp full-stop.

So as soon as I find out what's there (or what isn't!  :o ) - I'll drop you a line Rob, along with the stuff about the back of the dash if that's ok?  :y

If there is no amp present, is there a wire/plug from the heated rear window element that needs to plug into the amp?  Whereabouts does the wire run from - straight from the bottom of the rear window to the parcel shelf area?

Hi Folks,

Long story short, my ex-plod saloon has no sign of any aerial for the radio.  Well, it didn't, until I got an electronic stick-on jobbie to tide me over for the time being (about 12 months ago...  :-[ )

The coverage ain't too great, so I'm after taking the rear parcel shelf out and seeing if there is any sign of the aerial amp, and then I'll take things from there.

Just had a look at the below guide for taking the shelf out:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152745304

Before I get stuck in with this, does anybody have any pointers?  Some bits of the guide seem a little bit vauge to me...  :-[

How do you get the headrest holders out?
How does the centre seatbelt cap come off?

Any pointers would be appreciated  :y
