Omega General Help / Re: What does this multiplug connect to?
« on: 25 December 2008, 22:48:51 »
No this multiplug was taped up with original looking tape, nothing wrong with the airbag light or anything, I guess it must be something to do with a phone kit, but not sure.

Omega General Help / What does this multiplug connect to?
« on: 25 December 2008, 19:05:07 »
Can someone tell me about a yellow multiplug I found. I took the cover off the front passenger seat side cover on floor that covers the seat runner and where the airbag and power seat connectors are.

Can anyone tell me what the connector is for, it only has 3 wires attached to it?

Omega General Help / Re: Comma ATF, any good?
« on: 25 December 2008, 18:48:12 »
Got the gaskets and stuff, just need the ATF, think I will give Opie Oils a go, any discount codes or stuff I need to get the discount, or will I just quote the OOF?

Do you think I can get the ATF before the new year?

I think Mark used that in his Ex-plod a few years ago and didnt rate it.

Most of us use the Fuchs Titan 4000 from opie oils, a very good choice.

I would buy it from them, but I wanted to change it over the holidays and I guess I won't be getting it until after christmas. Wasn't sure about comma myself heard mixed reviews.

Cheers

Hi I'm planning in changing my ATF fluid, has anyone got any experience of Comma ATF, is it ok to use or should it be avoided.

Thanks

ive just had a look at my old AR25 box & it looks like a normal push in oil seal, the prop flange has a collar that obviously goes through the seal, i would say that when re-fitting just do up the nut as far as it will go [dont know the toque setting], but it looks dead easy to do :y

Tim thats the dogs dangles to hear that  ;D, a simple job then to change.... I hope  :y

Omega General Help / ATF leak
« on: 23 December 2008, 13:45:31 »
Looking for some help regarding my Autobox. I recently looked underneath my car to find splatters of ATF fluid around the area where the front of the prop shaft connects with the autobox.

Looking at it, there seems to be a small leak from the seal around the drive thing that comes out the back of the autobox and connects to the rubber donut thing that connects to the prop.

My question is can this seal be replaced easily or does it have a preloaded tension on the nut similar to the one on the rear differential?

I'm planning to change my ATF soon so if the autobox needs to be drained to change it then its not a problem.

Looking for some advice.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Wiper Problem
« on: 16 December 2008, 13:41:45 »
Hi my Omega's wipers dont complete a sweep when the ignition is switched off but I'm sure they did before. Also when the wipers are on they sometimes dont return to their starting position.

Could this be a relay issue? Any ideas are welcome.

One of the fitters told me the trim costs £160 and, obviously, isn't supplied with new screens so wouldn't be covered by your insurance.

Not true either, they are contractd to fit a screen to the OE spec.....and that includes renewing any trim tha is damaged.

Reality is that its not generally the trim at fault but the plastic channel it clips into.

Yeah actually I took my car to auto windscreens to get a 2nd opinion and the guy said exactly the same, he said the plastic fitting that goes around the glass doesn't fit properly, so in my case it was rushed and didn't sit on the glass correctly, so the rubber seal that clips in it doesn't fit right and looks sh**

I actually got in touch with the head office and they told me to head out to the Glasgow office on sat to see if they can fix it..... unsure if thats a good thing or not. Not even sure if I should buy a new f**kin seal just incase the screw it up.  >:(

Omega General Help / National Windscreens problems
« on: 13 September 2008, 11:30:34 »
Has anyone had any run ins with national windscreens?? I just had my windscreen replaced and I'm not a happy person, there is a 4 mm gap around the outside seal of one side of the windscreen, guy said it didn't matter, the seal was only for show  :o

The fact that I can push the windscreen down so the gap disappears doesn't seemt worry him and that "me touching it could have damaged it in the first place". Also said the new rubber seal which should have been replaced was damagd in transit........ thing is I seen the guy cutting it to shape and him bitching that he cut it too much  >:(

Compliained to my insurance company and they said to get in touch with national windscreens office to see if they can fix it. 30 mins later same guy phoned me back to say that there was nothing wrong with it, seal was in that state when the car came in

What do I do now, already complained to my insurance company but they will do nothing until monday. Anyone else had a problem getting their windscreen replaced?

snake oil, avoid. Seen a program on the TV that said these additives actually cost you more MPG.

Omega General Help / Re: Heat reflective windscreen.
« on: 29 August 2008, 00:57:57 »
Yip I've tried to get quotes for both types for my elite, the laminate in the corners of my windscreen have white water marks which expanded in the winter and have now cracked the corners of the screen.

Anyway the standard tinted one on my car is £280 (best price) and the heat reflective was £399  :o both auto windscreens and autoglass said to go through insurance because of the price. Also need to order new seals, etc. Since the insurance would be picking up the price anyway so why take a chance with the old ones.

Spoke to a guy in autoglass and he says he would change it to the heat reflective one if I wanted to...... Seen a very late Omega with one, but never had the bottle to ask the guy if it was better than a standard screen, but I've heard that they reduce the inside temperature quite a bit.

Omega General Help / Lock for petrol cap cover stuck
« on: 29 August 2008, 01:04:04 »
Hi, has anyone had any problems with their petrol cap cover being stuck locked? Had to unscrew the lock from inside the car to get the cover opened to refuel my mig. The metal rod the moves in and out when you lock and unlock the car is solid and isn't moving.

Do these electronic locks go often on the petrol cap cover?

From the look of the one I removed, it had made in W Germany marked on it. Unsure but I guess it must be really old stock.

Anyone got an idea in how much it might cost for a new one?

Cheers

HI all - many months ago some thingy smacked into my passenger side mirror and broke the casing off, which is beyond repair.

Due to the way the mirror is constructed, I need to get a whole assembly; Vx want £300 for this. Therefore, eBay should be my friend.

How do I make sure I get the correct mirror for a facelift Elite with heated electric mirror that has memory? It is not auto-folding however.

There's one I'm thinking of bidding on but the seller says they don't know if it's heated, only that it is has 5 wires going to the plug.

Thanks.

Yip had the same problem with my Elite, had to wait 2 months until someone came on fleebay to sell an elite one. Don't think motorised ones were in the UK, so only leaves 2 choices, electrical but no memory and electrical with memory. Think there is more than 5 wires, not 100%

i  should say the obd2 lead  is a cheapy from ebay i used it with vagcom s/ware i think its the same lead but im not 100% sure

cheers

Phil

Phil you need to get yourself to Autovaux in East Kilbride, they specialise in VX, got my autobox upgraded there for about £20. Guys got a proper tech2 with software but I'm not 100% sure he knows how to use it. Then again I only asked him to upgrade the software on the gearbox, hes probably mastered that one by now.  :y
You need more than a Tech2, you also need a current, valid subscription to TIS.

Yeah hes got TIS, unsure how up to date his version is, brought my autobox software to version 10, which he said was the latest...... latest he has  ::)
