 Here we go into the winter and Leicester has this to look forward to today;

Is it UK widespread and what the future holds for all?  :-\
Bet the repair shops are rubbing their hands and the insurance companies developing new 'sorry but we cannot pay' excuses........

Omega General Help / Re: Can't find MOT...
« on: 22 October 2012, 17:23:24 »
:D If you did know where it was tested last just go there and ask...they have digital records now.
If it is out then the plod will soon let you know when you get ANPR'd....Here's hoping you don't.
Do you insure your motor at the same time......many do. When you tax it that is on record too.
In future photocopy it...I do and record it in the service history book.
With luck your local dealership, give them your reg, will have it on record cos they send me reminders when mine is due even though I don't use them.
Best I can do...... :y

My grandad used to quote the bible. "Do onto others before they do unto you"  :y

But do it first was what I heard.........

Best advice I heard from mine was 'Never judge anyone until you have lived their life'. True today as it was then.........
Pity that today we tend to judge without proof or simply because we believe ourselves to be better than him/her/them!
Sad world it has become.........(said by the green Yoda thingy in Star Wars)

 ::) :D
Am I the only one, or one of a very few who approaches road junctions correctly only to be forced to brake hard when one of those 'better than men' drivers totally ignore the 'give way to your right' rule and barge through whilst giving you a look that kills and the usual mouthful af abuse with the finger in the air (ready for a nose pick maybe?) because they were right and it was you, driving safely, in the right place and lane, at the right speed....even indicating correctly was wrong? How is it that most of their cars had the drivers door, some even the rear doors caved in? I won't mention the rear ends with the obligatory 'pole' dent or front with the busted light and bent bumper. Do they ever learn from theior errors or are they just in the belief that because they are female we 'gentlemen' will all simply give way? Who in hell gave them the idea that they are always right even when they are wrong? As for being the better drivers....yeh.....in their dreams (and our nightmares) :D
Or is it that in Leicester different rules apply? By the way....how do some of them, as big as they are steer, let alone get into their usually small matchboxes? Is that why they cannot brake or steer?  :D
Enlighten me please..............
AND, has any other city got as many driving (HAHA its aiming really) schools as here?
YEP....I also admit that I do know quite a few excellant women drivers.......its just that they are a very tiny (in percentage not size) minority around here.
If ever there was a reason to win the lottery it would be to move out of this east midlands toilet. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Grin and bear it???? Who said that? ::)
Contoversial enough??????????;)

Razzo is spot on...just allow the base to be finger tacky where it can't be seen (I use spare bit of plate) and then apply the clear.
Same applies to celly......
its a tried and trusted method that is not viscisity, humidity or temerature dependant.  :y

As Kevin says......Li-On are the better battery inasmuch as they do not have the failings of a voltage 'memory'. NiCad really need to be fully discharged prior to re-charging to stop this happening which results in a shorter working time for the battery. LiOn batteries do not have this problem as they are memoryless. They are more powerful too as a bit of a bonus.....but are more expensive.
Hope that helps..... :y

As for the 12v ones they are primarily aimed at the casual diyer and not meant for regular or heavy use because they do have the capacity. Same goes for any make too.

:y Agree, but in both of these types of 12v 55w H4 lamps with the integral plastic holders...the white type and the black type, the glass part and element look exactly the same in both. Beats me why there is so radical a difference in luminosity output.
Maybe I was just the totally unlucky sod that got a set from a bogey batch......even though that seems extremely unlikely.
Anyway the old white holder type are staying in now and all I have to do is get the adjusters working again to rectify the 'iss poor bodge that the last owner made of it. Frikkin less than 50p for the 3 correct under bumper fixings too......in total. Bodgers... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:(

:D Old bulbs 12v 55w (white plastic holders) back in and WHITE lihjt is back! Tested the 'new'  bulbs (black plastic holders) ...they are 12v 55w too and they gave a yellow light. Have no idea what happened there at all........
As for the aim what I now think is that when I bought the car the front bumper fixings were all missing (like many other bits) from underneath and the pratt had altered the fogs aim to where they are now. Obviously when I returned the car to original and put in the original clips it brought the bumper down and so altered the foglight aim. Just tried the adjust it the easy way BUT as usual....Sod sod it sod it....the frikkin adjusters are solid so its the bumper off on tuesday (the drivers door strap will have to wait) so I can really get to it.
Stops the retirement boredom I suppose  ::)
Why do these plonkers buy a car that they cannot/ will not care for or even do the basic maintenance on? Are they really all of the billy bodge brigade?  :D

;) Moved over to DeWalt years ago and never had a problem. Had Bosch and Hitachi before that. Problem is DeWalt tend to be costly unless you get a bargain. Don't bother with 12v. The 18 are so much more powerful. The XRP difference is that they are even more powerful and the batteries more heavy duty style. I have an early DeWalt 18v combi drill and all it has ever had was a set of brushes recently. I have now bought a new 18v combi XRP type so can let the old one go if you fancy cos its headed for tyhe next car booty. Its got a case, new charger but the battery is getting on a bit and needs regular charging. I do it before I use it.
PM me if you fancy. :D

« on: 21 October 2012, 08:18:48 »
:D Special order? I have used these things many times from many exhaust centres....even dare I say it halfrauds...without any problem. As long as you take an old one, or draw and measure one then compare them you can't go wrong. Plus they are miles cheaper......

In the meantime a bit of garden wire looped around loosely will stop it falling if they do give way.  :y

:) Personally I always now go for the OEM (with trade card) after many hard lessons on life length and reliability of the pattern stuff. It eneded up costing me more by having to do the same job over........how boring and sad is that ::)
Always use new fasteners too with coppaslip. End of the day its your choice and pockets, just choose wisely cos the blame for mistakes only lies in the choice..... ;)
