Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: WANTED- old style keys.

I may have one of each.

One off a 97 MFl elite and one off a 97 pre facelift elite.

I'll have a look.
Cheers Varche, I really should work out how to put a piccy of my key on here but i got in a mess last time i tried  :D, The best way to describe it is that it has one big button on the front & on the side it has a little button for the deadlock facilty, i thought they only done these for a little while hence why im having troubles finding any, Ive even been through a big box of keys at the scrappy & couldn't find one :(.

@ Moggy,,,,,Yeah that would be great to at least get it working again even if the rubber button is totally FUBAR, I'll give it another couple of days then if nothing comes up i'll PM you :y.

Hi, Im looking for a couple of the early style keys (RF type I think) as the rubber buttons on mine have worn out, Also the microswitch on one of mine is U/S so does anyone know the part number for a replacement switch?,,,,,,,Cheers. :y
Hi alf,why don't you send me the PCB,that needs the micro-switch.We have lodes at our electronic company.I could fit it for free, just postage. As for the part code for the switch,it may be written on it.But i doubt it,if you post a picture of it.I may be able to help,Regards dean :y
Cheers for the offer Dean I might end up taking you up on that :y, But if I manage to locate a spare key or two i can rob a switch off of one of them & do it myself, Its quite an easy solder job as it is mounted through the board & only two contacts to worry about, So i'll give this post a few days first & if nothing comes up i'll P.M you,,,,Cheers :y

Omega General Help / Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Faulty
« on: 04 April 2013, 10:28:13 »
I think you'll find that the Astra mk3's also use the same earlier type sensor & mounted in the same place as the pre F/L miggy, & the Mk4 Astras use the same one as the F/Lift miggy & is mounted around the middle of the front bumper, Just thought id chuck that in as the Astras are plentiful in scrapyards :y.

Omega General Help / Re: AR35 into a TD
« on: 03 April 2013, 18:50:20 »
I suppose it depends on what type of g/box ECU you have fitted to begin with, I believe the later TD's ECU is totally different to the early ones connection & size wise, Ive got a suspicion that the later ones can be loaded with the later g/box software whereas the earlier ones cant, Or thats what TB said to me anyhow ::). Just been thinking further & I do remember that the G/box ecu has to be the same year/number as your original anyway, So if you are lucky enough to have a later type then just get the software updated. :y

General Car Chat / Re: Reliable small automatic car

Ive got the mrs Astra 'F' merit 1.6 8v (1997) auto just sitting around doing nothing since she got her new toy nearly a year ago :o, mind you its got no T&T & could do with a bit of tidying (rubber bump strip missing off door), But on the plus side its got low miles (I think approx 60,000) & got 14" alloys (vx ones not after market) & the colour coded bumpers instead of the nasty black/grey things, Just drop me a line if its the sort of thing you could use. :y

Ive had the same problems with these damn idlers, Ive fitted 4 in the 6 years ive had the car, the latest one I fitted 4 days ago just before my MOT yesterday & still managed to get an advisory on it, VX quoted £88 just for the pin :o so i gave that a miss, Had to go to a scrap yard today to get a quarterlight window for a neighbours car & by sheer luck stumbled over a 2.2DTI F/L saloon (very tidy all round) & just happened to have a rather new pin & idler fitted, So after a struggle getting them off discovered they were genuine VX :y, The best £15 ive spent considering to buy the two from VX would have been close on £200 :o, If anyone wants to know where this car is as it has good door cards, climate panel in fact good everything then give me a shout & i'll give you the info where to find it, oh & its silver if that helps.

General Discussion Area / Quinton Hazell gone belly up.
« on: 18 February 2013, 08:34:05 »
Just been talking to a mate of mine who works in a motor factors & he informs me that Quinton Hazell have now gone down the pan, I found that they were one of the better suppliers of spare parts unlike some of the rubbish coming in from abroad, What a sad state of affairs this country is turning into :'(.

Unlock both doors with a key? You must have a nearside handle from a left-hooker, nice to have an alternative if your driver's door throws a wobbler.
Im sure ive seen others with two locks, Mine is an old 1995 tractor so maybe thats why, yeah it is useful to have though as you say. :y

I think you'll find that the front door C/L motors are the same, Well they are on mine but dont know if its because both front doors I can unlock with a key, Other than that the only problem you might face if at all is the power socket on the unit, I found out there are two types of fitting although the pin placements are identical, Ive also got a knackered one ive got to change so i'm hoping the one "The Red Baron" has promised to send me has the correct socket to save any messing about. ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Bonnet is hard to open

You could try adjusting the rubber stops on the bonnet, Failing that make sure the spring thing & the catch have some grease on them. :y

Normally loads of sizes available. Inside hole Dia, 10mm top 30mm lower fits nicely from memory.

Good luck getting the lower spring back on, I ended up using 2 small cable ties together, you know the type BT Outlet Socket type.

Same here.Trying to fit those wire clip things is like pushing custard uphill with a fork. :y ;D
The ones I got came with rubber 'O' rings instead of the wire type, But they are fun to fit when youve got greasy fingers >:(
