I am with Plusnet for internet and phone.

Talk Talk you mean  ;)

Why, do BT own Talk Talk as well.

I assumed they did, as about 3 years ago I used to be with PlusNet....then had a letter saying summat about being merged/taken over.....but price would stay the same, then a few months later saying prices had to increase.....swallowed that .... then about 6 months later saying they were increasing their prices to be the same TalkTalk .... so I assumed TT had taken them over....at this point I changed ISP's.
Stayed with that ISP for 13months then switched to a deal SSE were doing at the time.....£12/month for line rental and broadband ( 2 year deal )

What worries me with the instant ink is what happens when you have a problem, but the printer doesnt know - like bad output quality.
Sory of thing you'd historically change the cartridge for, but you cant as its a rented high capacity tank.....

I suppose if you kept doing a 'head cleaning' cycle that will 'prompt' for a new cartridge to be sent, as the printer will use shed loads of ink each cycle  :-\

Probably inkjet but will depend on needs. For heavy usage a laser may be cheaper.

Home, occasional use - inks seem to dry out quickly.

The one I own at the minute is an HP inkjet all in one.

A quick search shows that HP do pigment and dye based ink cartridges (tho I don't know for your printer). Be worth checking to see which cartridges you have. If pigment , switch to dye if you can. Pigment cartridges tend to dry up/block sooner than dye ones  :y

« on: 16 April 2016, 11:03:06 »
It's the lack of an alternative power supply that would put me off an all electric Leaf or B Class etc If you put one of thses in your boot, would that make it a Hybrid?  ::)

I've always wondered if you could charge an electric car (gradually, of course) from something like that, or whether it instantly tries to draw 16 amps from whatever you plug it into, then throws its' toys out if it can't.

I could see myself using one as a commuting car, but I wouldn't want something as large as a leaf for that. 2 seats, enough luggage space for a laptop and a packed lunch would do me. I wouldn't drive a deathtrap like a Renault Twizy, though, and the thought of French electrics and a ruddy great Li-Po battery fills me with dread. Electric MX5 would be perfect. :y

It wouldn't replace any of our current 3 cars either, so would have to find somewhere to park it too. ::)

Neighbours driveway would be ideal, especially if you convinced them "that the battery was a bit low an would you mind if I plugged this low power trickle changer into your socket in the garage"   ::) ;D

Anybody got a hidden number for them which is cheapish from a mobile ?
Looking at what they and O2 charge, it will probably wipe out half of the money owed if I ring the number on the .gov site  >:(

Cheers TD  :)

I had a quick look searching for HMRC, a load of numbers throw up an 0345/0300 alternatives.....my mobile provider lets 03 numbers come out of inclusive minutes  :y so worth checking if yours does  :)

« on: 16 April 2016, 10:06:37 »
Been down to the new house to check stuff out, didn't like the thought of a combi boiler supplying such a large house with nine rads. It's a Vaillant ecotech (numbers???) 35Kw. I needn't have worried. Water gets red hot in no time and, after I had the heating on for 15 mins, all rads hot.  :y

Probably the 835 .....gives 35kw for central heating and approx. 21kw for hot water. Mines the 831 and works well with 8 rads and plenty of hot water (high water pressure)
It would be worth checking that the boiler has had an annual service (you should have a Vaillant service book) and if it has, phone up Vaillant to check the warranty on the boiler. Vaillant  increased their warranties to 5 and 7 years, altho all the literature says 2 years, so worth a phone call  :y

I'm still not at work  :(

Went to see diabetic nurse today.....who has doubled my diabetic tabs to try get my blood sugar down.
The effect of having a high blood sugar....is it constantly makes you feel knackered and wanting to have a pee every couple of hours.....so I'm not sleeping that well, waking up every couple of hours....

Nursey is phoning me on thurs to see what effect the doubling of the diabetic tabs is having......and then go from there....

I also got a present from her today.....a brand new blood sugar monitoring machine....I don't know why? It looks much the same as my 4 yo machine which still works  :-\

« on: 10 April 2016, 19:57:05 »
This is getting more involved than I thought it would.

The socket in the bedroom is not a NTES, but a PCS whatever that is, and the phone and router lights annoy Swimbo at night so they have to be moved to the hallway.
 :)

Ummm black sticky tape over the leds might pacify swmbo

Surely, wouldn't it be easiest just to buy 2 or 3 way cordless phones? I would have thought there was a suitable mains socket close enough to where you want the extension phone/phones    :-\

General Discussion Area / Re: Air Fryers
« on: 09 April 2016, 19:47:21 »
We have had a couple. Latest one is a cross between an air fryer and a halogen oven. Awesome. Spit roast chicken in about an hour... Tastes awesome :y

I looked a a few .....but if you get a chicken oven ready in a bag with stuffing and herbs (ready to go in the oven) ....ok the chicken costs a bit more.....and takes longer to cook in a fan assisted oven....it tastes great and moist (as the bag hasn't let the steam escape) it kinda makes it hard to justify a halogen oven @ about £50+  :-\
