General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 03 September 2017, 17:31:02 »
Last Friday I drove my Caravan more than 500 miles to Berlin. My mum lives there, I had to solve some problems. I returned today. My 97 Caravan did a great job. Like always.....

100 miles per hour average by nightride.....still possible  ;)

Of course the "B" Omegas will became classic cars. The V6 ones earlier and the 4 potts later. They will follow the Senators, Diplomats and Kapitaens...

But that will be minimum 5 years in the future. Actually an Omega is not worth to hold it 5 years on the road with professional assistance.

So do it yourself! It is easy!

My two Omegas are like a good wine. They became better every year. It is a long term strategic operation. Ten years from now they will became old timers. They should be like new then.

Let`s work

Hi danzigfan

It is a 95 model. That makes the car interest, because it is two years nearer to oldtimer status than my caravan. To make it pretty is not the problem.

But transport across Germany is expensive. The Omega is able to ride on his own wheels, but I need transfer licence plates. Also I have a storage problem. I have two Omegas and two parking lots. Where to store a third one?

Thinking both sides of the story.....

@Sir Tigger

Like to taste a V6.......

Congratulations jargo!

But I see, if you go to MOT a little late, MOT will be dated earlier.

Our Tuev is more human. So if you have Tuev 8/17 and go to the test in September, you will get a 9/19 licence. But if you expire more than a month, you have to pay more....

Sittting about the same question as danzigfan...100€ for a nice V6 with low rust?

I built up my two Omegas and I know all the work a cheap car can cause. The car in question is able to drive with a month Tuev - but located in northern Germany. I am in the southwest.

I decided it is not worth 100 € for me, because transport is too expensive.

Hi Sir Tigger

Basic problem is that most people can not see the difference between "weather" and "climate".

Weather is only a flashlight about the actual situation in a small region.

Climate is the sum of millions flashlights all over the world, over many years. Actually a climate period is measured over 30 years.

Climate change seems to cause long term pressure variations. So areas of high / low pressure will be situated in other positions than before and they will move slower.

Actually the pressure situation is, that UK, northern France, Benelux, northern Germany and Scandinavia are on the northside of the polarjet with cool weather. South of this zone the weather tends more to subtropic character. Between both zones a stable thunderstorm line exists, sweeping north and south a few hundred miles. We are mainly on the warm side here in Lahr deep down southwest, but a stable summer anticyclone is still missing.

Hi tidla

It is Germanys highest building site, the Zugspitze cable cab mountain station in nearly 3000m.

@ Mister Rog

Summer was not bad here. 55 days above 25°C, 17 above 30°. Today it is a little cold, but there are 35 on the radar next week...

Omegas air condition will have to do hard work again  ;D

@ LCO112G

I know the area in summer. Drove to Cannes via Geneva on the Route Napoleon several times. Beautiful landscape...

General Car Chat / Omega Summer Meeting Illmenau / Germany
« on: 07 August 2017, 19:50:37 »
Hi out there

Last weekend there was a fine familiar Omega Summer meeting in Illmenau, right in the middle of Germany. Shame on me, I was not there, but all comments are maximum positively.

Last thing an Omega can do to his drunken driver is to absorb much energy as possible and protect some room for over living. I think this one did a great last job....

Last night an Omega Caravan crashed into a house near Rostock, Germany. The building was serious damaged. The Omega protected his passengers. All on board are alive.

Hi Robert

Generally nothing is illegal. If you do good work and you get the Tuev OK...be happy. But do not try to hide your work. They want to see it. Only light painting, no panels.

Doc Gollum is right. The most fatal error you can do by repairing your car is to start the angle grinder on a Sunday afternoon  :o
