Another very satisfied customer.  Top bloke, knows his stuff and a pleasure to do business with - even if he is a tad over keen with the ATF!  ;D

Not intertested in P/X so if I can recoup £500 on it I'll be happy - I suppose I just need to get advertising and see what happens?

General Discussion Area / Sell, fix & sell or break??
« on: 20 June 2010, 19:45:06 »
I have a bit of a dilema.  My '99 2.5 V6 CDX (120k)has started developing a number of faults and after 5 years I'm thinking its time for a change:

ABS ECU failed
significant corrosion increasing in usual places
Airbag light on

Add to this it needs the following:

Cambelt
at least 2 tyres
service (possibly brakes also)
MOT & tax due in July

And its it getting tatty inside - heated seat failure (burnt seat), seats becoming stained & worn etc.

So I'm trying to decide the most economical route to change it (both in terms of effort and pound notes)

1) Sell it as it is (someone else to break or fix)
2) Do the jobs (excluding bodywork) and sell it
3) Break it myself

Not sure I have the time to break it myself unless the effort was financially worth it so its perhaps a case of if I invest the cash, will I get it back when I sell it??

Thanks - actually just got to survey the damage.  It's just a small fag burn size hole so quite easily repairable.  Got a few other more urgent jobs to do than changing a seat over for that little damage.

The wife however is severly scarred  ;D....

The wife has just phoned to inform me that the Omega's drivers seat has just caught fire - with her sat on it!

Yes, I laughed too......

However I now have a very charred & holed drivers seat which is also somewhat wet after the wife threw large quantities of water onto it.

Cream/beige velour if anyone has one knocking about....

I'll pop a picture up later! (of the charred seat, not the wife's charred backside....)

Divorced mine sorry, you could have had her ;D

As for the seat, bad news matey :( Post a wanted ad in the test section, ask kindly & someone will move it for you :y

Maybe I should go for a full leather upgrade!   ;D ;D ;D

Can anyone move this to the wanted section please? :y

General Discussion Area / Re: Calibra V6
« on: 16 September 2009, 08:59:14 »
I've got one, much more responsive than my Omega V6 as you'd expect but obviously less refined.  Interior is essentially Cavalier as are many parts so its pretty much a winning combination - the V6 lump with the very reliable Cav body.  On a recent run up to the lakes I got 55mpg out of it!  Around town & 'fun' driving never drops below 35mpg.

I have to say I love it, although mine is a good one - low mileage which hasn't been Chav'd!

But it has to be worth £150 of anyones money.  Standard running V6's of 80-100k mileage go for £1000+, if its tidy (especially interior, seat bolsters, wheel arches, door bottoms etc) then add another £500 to that.  I've seen them advertised for over £2k.

Agreed Albs.  Also the system is so very complica\ted no-one can work out how its calculated and so there is no confidence you're ever getting the right amount.

As my company are the purveyors of all things Pot Noodle I can give you some insider info on these things.....

These days they are much lower in salt & artificial stuff and generally better for you.  Consequently they are also much lower in taste (if that was possible).

Bombay bad boy is my preffered camping accompaniment, and quite how 'Doner Kebab Pot Noodle' fits into the companys 'viatlity mission' is anyones guess.....

we found an even quicker way of descending Ben Nevis and avoiding the zig-zags - on our backsides on the the snow!  Snow was about 5 feet deep on top and visibility only about 50 feet.

Scafell was climbed via wasdale - some fabulous views, it was really clear.

Just waiting for all the speeding tickets to hit my desk from the hire van!.....
