Omega General Help / Re: Removing air con system

And it's probably easier to put the original bits in rather than foddling around finding blanks... Not helping my laziness...! :y

Also possible that the car has been cloned.

This. Rare but not impossible. Ring 101 (or use the online reporting tool if your force has one) to make a report and get an incident number.

Then put something unique in your front and rear windscreens, small sticker or something, so if someone starts getting bus lane tickets in yiur name you can say "weren't me guv". :y

It's a 6PK1900 belt if you delete the aircon compressor.

Then also a bunch of relays, two fans and half a mile of pipework if you're feeling keen.  :y

All that is already off the car...

Is there a different bracket for the PAS pump or should I just take the grinder to the old one?

(I think they share the bracket but it's been months since I unmantled it...)

Whilst reassembling I'm thinking I'll leave all the aircon gubbins off. For one thing it's not something that's ever worked in... any of my cars, actually... and for another I'm incredibly lazy and it'll mean less work to put it all back together.

Remove the pump... leave the pipes off... fit a shorter drivebelt - anything else to think about?

EXCITING AND THRILLING UPDATE

I found the originals. I had of course put them in the box with the power steering pump. I mean, why wouldn't you...

Cheers DG - if anyone does need any they're £23.90 for a pair from the dealer...

Despite being Britain's Most Organised Man* I've managed to put my coolant bridge bolts in a Safe Place from which there is No Return.

Before I have a coronary at the dealer's price, does anyone happen to know what size they are? M16 I think, but thread and length?

Part number I think is 12992646 "HOLLOW CHANNEL BOLT FOR COOLER BRIDGE"

You'd have to be mad... But then if I had the disposable income...

Got a good bit of engine put back together.

Then found the dipstick tube was neatly snapped right where it went into the block.

Now ordered some tube to make a new one since they're apparently not available anywhere... One step forward, three steps back!
Neatly snapped where you placed something heavy on top of it? Or where you caught it moving the engine? Or where you stood on it? Or where it just spontaneously snapped itself?  ;D

Where i carefully and gently removed it when I was stripping the block, using my snooker referee gloves and a pair of tweezers... :D :D

Four bolts and some sealant but its a bit awkward with it in situ. I would consider arranging something with air pressure or suction using the two pipes.

Ps any issues with ATP delivery following the exit of the Bre?

If it's anything like Autodoc then its about a week and a half... Or longer.
