Yep I also wimped out putting my headlamps into the oven but did find using a hot air gun just as good.
As a tip get yourself a few slips of card or thin plastic to push under the various "tangs" that also help to hold the lens onto the body. Otherwise they keep springing back or snap off.
The sealant is like goo and sticks to everything. Try not to get any onto the reflective(mirror) surfaces. Like markrl I found that if you wipe them then the mirror surface easily comes away. Solvent takes it off even quicker!!
Hi there. Having an annoying problem with my radio. (non Bose Philips CCRT 700). Original factory fit in 1999.
When switching on from the ignition or radio On/Off switch the preferred preset radio station is not being recognised and the radio is constantly searching for a station as if the memory has been lost. The screen says "MEM" followed by rolling station numbers.
The only way I can lock onto a station is by pressing the relevant preset button.
Yep, I have repaired two by replacing the micro switch using the "how to" guide. Parts are readily available from RS components (and possibly Maplins).
Been a year since repair and both solenoids are working fine.
I am also looking for the earlier power sounder which was very expensive at my local Vauxhall dealers (Cirencester) when I enquired a few months agoand the ebay ones are probably no better than the one I want to replace! Which dealer was offerng a lower price? Vauxhall's at Cheltenham?
Hi Mathewst, I just used double sided tape. They are stuck to the bottom of the rear screen and not the parcel shelf. Been there over 8 years now and never budged
Just got a set off one of my Omegas at the moment for refurbing and can definitely say that those on the German ebay are wrong. Look like they are from a front steering rack (not Omega) to me.
The bush and ball joint at each end are usually ok but the adjuster in the middle often seizes. They can be a pain to free up but I have managed to free up mine on both Omegas using a large vice and a hefty pipe wrench.
