hi what a great site i had to join.    I am just about to purchace a 1996 3.0 elite saloon. and i would love to know if there are any things i should be looking at to make sure its a ok buy. the owner has told me that he has changed the cam belt himself? not a job i would like to do on my own. but dose anyone think this is a job that should be done on a diy bassis.   it also showing 125.000 miles which sounds right for car but i do know that he has broken omegas in the past and it wouldnt take him much to change the clocks. is there anything i could look at to see if that has been done.    cheers for anyone willing to help

Any body who is a avid reader on this forum may rember me last week asking quistions and advise on a 3.0 elite that i was thinking of buying of ebay? well i took the plunge and was the winning bidder on said omega. I was fully prepared to spend quite a bit of cash to get it up to srcatch and was not expecting a mint example. but after a winning bid was placed at £770 i thought i might have done ok?......what happend next was totally unexpected and totally out of my control.

On contacting the seller the first thing i was told was that the omega would be avalable for collection only from leeds city center.  (alarm bells ringing now)

so having refused to collect from anywhere other than the adress on the v5 and loads of phone calls. it imerged that this private seller was in actual fact a dealer and not a good dealer at that. who thought that he could put anything in his advert and that if i bidded i would have to pay.

So obviously i refused to continue with the transaction through fear of buying a stolen, dodgey car?

so far over the weekend i have had 34 phone calls from this so called man threating death and beatings to me and my famly. he even told my 4 year old that he is going to rip her f*!**ng head off?

so the police were contacted and this man has been arested and charged with threating behaveour...

would hate anybody to go through what me and my famly has been through in the last 72hrs. just be carefull and ask all the right quistions. i was so caught up in the mechanecal side of things i just did not think to ask the most basic of quistions.

1) can i collect the car from the adress on the v5

2) are you a private seller or trader

3) is your name on the v5 and could you provide proof of that

so am gona be extra carfull now but it hasnt turned me of the fact that i whant a omega?     so anybody with a decent 3.0 elite or mv6 msg me  (just be gentle)
