You think this is bad, try piloting a bus, we call it 'beat the bus' whether it's car driving idiots or idiots on foot or cycle mounted ones that don't give a shit the lights gone green they're crossing the road in front of a taxi (who was in the bus lane >:() and a circa 15 tonne bus!
Think you'll find that most bus lanes allow taxi use... Of course most professional drivers don't apply roadsigns to their employment... :P

Oi don't tarnish my ability to announce "I'm a professional driver don't you know"

Out of interest, theres a new ruling that kicks in September meaning that even if you only download or watch old content (ie, not live) on BBC iPlayer or any of the other Players (ITV, 4, 5 etc) you must have a TV Licence.

To my knowledge the new ruling on affects I player as the bit of paper that came with the nagging letter about getting a licence says so I've already deleted I player! We find the best stuff is on all 4, bbc shot themselves in the foot when they ditched bbc 3 imo

I know Peugeot use adblue (is it called that? ???) That's what our buses use, if anyone doesn't know it's just pig piss! Don't know about Renault but about the time I left Fiat their latest derv POS engine (multijet 2 iirc) didn't need a regeneration cycle as it injected fuel 8 times a second (I remember seeing a very fancy graph)! Very clever people that lot, if you want innovation look at Fiat (sorry for all the brackets)(ps I hated Fiat before working for them, same as Vauxhall!).

It would have spontaneously combusted by then so nothing to worry about!

Omega General Help / Re: drive question in automatic
« on: 20 August 2016, 22:55:08 »
I agree completely, about not holding the car on the footbrake, Baza - it will definitely cause disc warping and subsequent brake judder, but I was wondering about the possible downside to holding the car on an incline in Drive and without brakes applied - you know, being lazy!
Will this result in any problems long-term?

Ron.

Given the right hill I sometimes do this in the Scanias and I don't believe it causes undue stress, surely it's easier on the 'box than having to move off from stationary?...

Sorry, but it does, your not inhaling the harmful smoke/tar  ;)

Plus, atm, perfectly legal to use in workplaces
  ;)

I don't think that's the case in Wales.  :-\
Banned from all our premises as well.

Banned on our buses, wouldn't trust the stuff personally, I'm sticking to tea!

I was stuck in traffic on the A34 Wednesday night for 2 hours. Massive collision 8 car pile up, Air ambulance etc
4 people died including 3 children. Makes you think about how events can happen so suddenly. Apparently husband was following in car behind his wife and children he saw everything unfold in front. Tragic and life changing.
A tragedy indeed :'(

He was driving the Zafira which crushed the rest of the family in the Corsa in front under an artic. I hope for his surviving sons sake he can learn to come to terms with the whole sorry event. Not good at all :'(

Shit!  :-[

On the basis that I've had two BMWs and blown the engines out of both of them I'd avoid those.Never had a Merc but not too long ago[I think]they went through a period of really bad quality problems.Going on present experience of Volvos I'd vote for a V70,mine's a 2.4 petrol[they're 5pot motors]and on a recent run to Billing-just over 244 mile round trip-at 60-65mph most of the time it returned 41mpg on standard unleaded.

Mercs bad quality mostly affected the 210 but the 203 is pretty shit, the 170 wasn't fantastic, heard the odd problem with 220's but 215 were strangely a rare sight for problems and everyone knows about 230 roof problems!
