Orbit tyres Rushden
 https://www.orbittyres.com/

Tell them what settings you need,  make sure you un-seize all the rear adjusters, and fit new track-rods to the front, if you want to go all out, new rear do-nuts and front top mounts.
Thanks Big Griffin 100 mile round trip though for me hoping to find someone closer if I do take the plunge, never had much faith in the local mob of kwik fitters and the like.

At risk of being rude, when that doesn't work, I will say "I told you so".

Take it to the place that Biggriffin suggested.

They might be cheap to buy, but they aren't cars to be neglected for very long. Either get it done properly or buy a different car :-X
Rude but no doubt true :) and probably why they are cheap in the first place as many home mechanic is not keen or not able to shell out for others to do what appears to the untrained eye an easy job.
I have turned the passenger side through one complete turn and it is a marked improvement not pulling to the left anymore, trouble is on the fen roads I inhabit its hard to tell if the tram-lining is better as it is like being on a roller coaster anyway. If I get chance to drive it over the next few days on some decent roads I will report back.
Different car is pretty high on the list as you suggest Doc I am not one for high maintenance vehicles I dont mind fixing them but spending best part of £200 to get them set up every time you replace something is not my cup of tea, shame though as it is a lovely comfy old barge and tows like a dream apart from the diabolical steering  :'(

Just poking my dottery old two penneth in.....Did you tighten the wishbones up with the car on the ground on its own weight. Caused me issues a while back. Had them fitted in a garage, but the lad that did them got a telling off when I said about wandering. The Omega mechanic did it properly and problem solved in my case. (I did go to Chesham for the setup after) :)
Its not the wishbones as it was the same or even worse before I fitted them and yes I followed the excellent oof guide. I think it might well be set up.
However I am only dealing with a car I bought to tow my little boat 20 miles a few times in the summer so not sure I need or want to spend ££££ setting it up I will try adjusting the toe on the passenger side as it pulling to the left hard i imagine it would mean the wheel needs to toe in? a little more. Time is a commodity I have plenty of so will try a 1/4 turn at a time and see how it drives after.
It can not do any harm as I am a very steady driver (even more so now I have a ins consumption readout  :'( ) Saying that I am getting 30mpg so not awful

Hello Any recommendations for set up track camber etc around the PE13 area (Wisbech).
Cheers Omegians

The set up IS the culprit.

Best case it will be horrible and unpredictable to drive. Worst case you will be doing the front tyres every thousand miles  :-X

Get it set up properly by someone who actually understands the Omega and report back :y

Worn steering idler?

Has four wheel geometry setup been completed since new wishbones?
Steering idler was my first guess but it seems okay jacked car up both wheels of the ground and can not find any play in the steering joints or any knocking grinding etc apart from the slight noise from top of suspension which is very slight and no play evident.
It was tramlining before I fitted wishbones which I hoped would cure it so not setup yet untill i have found the culprit.
car corners well enough steering is a bit heavy although I am usually low revs as it is auto so this may mean pump is working slower i suppose.
It does pull hard to the left? when going straight.

Possible worn top strut mountings?
Possible but no play is evident and they look okay. I might try swapping the tyres as searching keyword 'tramlining' has brought up a lot of tyre issues maybe the omega is very sensitive to tyres with its complex or seemingly complex setup

Okay so wishbones all sorted but the battle-star Omega still wanders from one side of the road to the other it follows every camber change in the road and out in the fens we have plenty of them.
Had a good inspection of the idler arms and the rest of the joints but they all seem good with no play.
There is a slight bit of noise coming from the top of the suspension leg when you move the wheels it is the same both sides and no play as far as I can tell.
Could it be something in the actual steering column or box?
Scratching my head wondering what to replace next :-\

Omega General Help / Re: Access to Wishbone bolt drivers side.
« on: 01 October 2019, 21:25:38 »
Thanks for that. I take it that the pinch bolt is a Vauxhall Dealer only. Did a search online but couldn't find any.Looked at new ball joints and the majority don't come with the bolt? Found that lemforder supply a M12 bolt, so I assume that is the pinchbolt? Could I just buy two M12 part threaded high tensile 8.8 bolts with lock nuts, if so how long is the bolt?

Thanks again
Addy
I used all the bolts again they were all pretty good anyway and I had given them a good soaking of paraffin for a day or two. Sadly it has not solved my issue with the wandering Omega.

Do the 2.2 pipes run in a different place to a V6? That seems unlikely considering the gearbox and radiator are externally identical and fitted in the same places......

I can only think my pipes have been altered as they are directly across the access hole although it seems unlikely as they are all held in what looks like factory fitted clips.

The only other possibility is I am not looking in the right hole :o ;D :D will get my son to turn the bolt later and see if I can shed some light on the subject.

Hi Nick thanks for the reply.
I had read the guide and saw the post about access to the bolt I wonder if it is different for auto models as the oil cooler pipes for the gearbox run across the chassis hole making it difficult to get the socket in the hole.
I have enough extensions but it is getting into the hole in the first place, removing the coolant tank air filter box and cooler pipes seem to be the only way I can get to it :-\ . I seem to be unable to force the pipes out of the way even though I have removed all the pipe clips.

Omega General Help / Access to Wishbone bolt drivers side.
« on: 23 September 2019, 11:14:52 »
Hello comrades
Got my wishbones on order so decided to start the job so I am ready to fit when they arrive.
Passenger side all removed with the only problem being the hid sensor which was tough to remove mainly because I did not have a star spanner. Solution I found that a small ring spanner did the job really easily  :y
Drivers side is more complicated because I have no line of sight on the bolt going through the chassis into the engine bay? Looks like I am going to have to remove the coolant tank and the auto transmission pipes and maybe the air box to get at it. I have removed the nut with lots of fiddling but can not even see or feel the bolt head in the hole in chassis.
The bolt is still through the hole so it has not dropped into the sub-frame but I do not want to push it out with out being able to at least feel were it is.
Any suggestions or is it best to remove as much as possible to be able to see it.
I am without a helper at the moment but later today I will get someone to turn it from below while I try and locate it with my fat fingers which are not the best fit in small holes ???

This is the RH turret of OE03, pre-MOT inspection June this year. Until I peeled back the carpet all seemed well. LH turret was OK, just a little rust. I spent £300 on the sills 2 years ago, bought a welder and  kept other Omegas going a bit longer. Some Omega owners plan to keep their cars going forever, not I. Nick has said Omegas were not designed to last forever, more recent cars are better.
Speaking from the perspective of a qualified welder that would be an easy repair and could be made stronger than when it came out of the factory, is it worth doing, well probably not, if you are not able to weld and fabricate cheaper to buy another, all depends how much you want to keep the car on the road and how much spare time or money you have.

Omega General Help / Re: Auto Box Park
« on: 16 September 2019, 19:38:52 »
Hello all with my Omega Auto box in park the car still rolls forward surely the gearbox should lock it up. ....

When you say rolls forward, do you mean it will continue to roll or roll slightly before coming to a sudden stop  :-\
With the car in park it is possible to push it forwards it feels a little like a manual that is in gear but easier. Hopefully Paul (pawl) has worn down rather than snapped and is not lurking inside the autobox waiting to do some serious damage which of course will happen on the longest trip I take in the old girl as sods law decrees
