Omega Electrical and Audio Help / How good is the Bose set up
« on: 02 March 2008, 21:28:21 »
How good is the BOSE set up from an elite saloon and what should be included in a full kit.

What sort of price do they usually go for.

Cheers

If you have a good look on ebay you can pick up a sony one for about £80 I don't know if it can be used with a remote though but can be connected to steering wheel controls with correct wiring.

One of my mates has a mini cooper s and it was in when he got it, sound quality is as good as you would expect from sony.

Unfortunately you can't get them for clarion's as there not that common they just do them for stuff like pioneer, sony, kenwood, etc.
I tried to get one for the clarion I had.

What head unit have you fitted as you can get wiring of ebay for about £20 that will connect your new one to the display and steering wheel controls if you have them.
Depends on the make though.

I had a clarion in the estate I just sold and it did the same except when playing cd's the date was there and when the radio was on there was no date displayed but the steering wheel buttons lit up.

Omega General Help / Re: Sludge under filler cap on a 3.2

the problem has already been reflected in the price but it is a reasonable price and even if needs the headgasket it will be average price

Omega General Help / Sludge under filler cap on a 3.2
« on: 26 October 2009, 20:28:52 »
Been to look at a 3.2 mv6 today that a friend of a friend is selling, in the whole the car is mint with just over 60K on the clock. Only problem is there is a lot of the old creamy sludge in the rocker cover, the car runs fine and doesn't seem to overheat. Question is is it likely to be the headgasket or just in need of a good engine flush and the breathers etc doing.

My car has just started doing the same thing a couple of days ago.
Where is the powersounder situated and is it just a case of snipping the wires and taping them up or does it have a plug to disconnect.

My mate has them on his M3 but reckons they are nowhere near as good as the bridgestone one's they replaced.

Omega General Help / Re: car shakes at 70-80

I've had 6 omega's and every one has had some sort of vibration at some speed or other, found different faults on different cars but only cured it once with brake disc's. I have made it better also by changing bottom arms I have also changed them twice in a year after buying some cheap of ebay after a few months they started pulling to the right under braking as the front bushes where to weak. This could be your problem.

I have found with Omega's its worth paying more for quality parts, disc's bottom arm's, steering idler etc.

I fitted an aftermarket steering idler in feb and it failed it's mot on it in august so now has a GM one fitted.

Hope this is of some help.

Omega General Help / Re: Chipping 2002 2.2 16v?
« on: 29 August 2009, 23:17:21 »
Whilst running a 2.2 and 2.5 v6 at the same time there was only a difference of around 3 mpg but the V6 has way more torque. But then if your going for a v6 to pull your caravan you may aswell get a 3.0 instead of a 2.5 as I never really noticed a difference in economy between my mv6 and my 2.5.

Omega General Help / Re: cambelt change when
« on: 29 August 2009, 22:43:04 »
Last time i got one done it cost me about £300 on a mv6 so in my view that turns a cheap £700 runaround into a £1000 runaround which is more than i wan't to pay. He won't budge on the price as he say's its already cheap, it also needs the rocker gaskets, breathers etc doing and not having driven it I would reckon on a set of lower arms as most need. all in all it wouldn't end up a cheap car.
