Omega General Help / Traffic Master Problems
« on: 07 February 2011, 17:42:08 »
On my 2000 facelifted elite there is a trafic master button, I have never subscribed to this service and the only time I ever heard from this facility was if I accidentally pushed it.
Recently the annoying announcement it gives has taken to starting each time I turn the engine on, not if just the ignition is turned on.
The question is how do I disconect it?
I tried serching the help section and the FAQs but nothing so far.

Omega General Help / Re: decoding MOT failure notice
« on: 16 January 2011, 17:51:05 »
Thanks for your advice, I will get both replaced.
Garage was quite happy to do just one, just shows how easy it is to just do the minimum and then presumably keep replacing other things generating more work at my cost for themselves.
Once again Many Thanks :y

Omega General Help / decoding MOT failure notice
« on: 14 January 2011, 15:32:45 »
Hi all,
My 2.5 estate auto has just failed the mot in one aspect.
" Nearsides front Steering box has relative movement between sector shaft and the drop arm (2.2.B.1b) "
Anybody speak the above language can tell me what is wrong and what will need to be done?
I am waiting for the tester to return my call to give me a price to fix.
He also told me the Front Nearside Shock absorber is starting to leak so I guess it will be expensive :'(

Omega General Help / Replacing N/S Front Shock Absorber
« on: 04 January 2010, 15:20:58 »
Hi OOFERs - Happy New Year to all.

I have just had my facelift V6 auto estate MOTed - all clear except an advisory note requiring attention for the N/S Front shock absorber - light misting of oil.
I have looked in the maintenance guides but nothing.
I guess this must be a job many of you have tackled, can you tell me your experiences, good and bad?
Many thanks
Mike

Omega General Help / DOOR CHECK STRAP CHASSIS FIXING
« on: 18 January 2010, 13:37:56 »
Hi all, I have noticed that on my F/O/S door, the check strap fixing on the chassis is coming away. The welds that hold the anchour lug onto the chassis are coming apart.
The lug I mean is the one welded onto the car body, not the section discussed in the maintenance guides.
I asked Vaux if this was a known problem/fix "don't know".
I looked in the mmainenance guides but it's not covered.
The metal behind the welded lug has started to split!
Any suggestions most welcome.
Many thanks

Omega General Help / Re: abs tc issues

If it is ECU, mine was, it is a fiddly job as per the guide, KW did mine - respect and thanks.
The errr good news is when you take off ECU to send to BBA for refurb (great job and quick) the engine/gearbox and power steering still works ok so you dont have to be without whilst waiting.
hope this helps.

Omega General Help / Bonnet not releasing
« on: 21 September 2009, 15:40:03 »
Anybody had problems with the bonnet release, catch or mech?
I pull the lever fully but it just does not want to budge so can't lift the bonnet at present.
I seem to remembe it all appeared to be well greased.

Omega General Help / Door checkstrap welding?
« on: 25 June 2009, 09:26:00 »
I am finding that the drivers door checkstrap mounting point on the car has started to seperate from the bodywork.
The checkstrap assembly + bushes were replaced and now work well but the weight of the door and some peoples heavyhanded door opening seems to be gradually pulling the welded securing plate off of the body.
Any body had this problem and fixed it before the fixing point comes away?

If noise/whistle is the secondary air pump, easy to check - disconnect the plug, it's under the NSF wing at the front - if you unbolt the horn (1 bolt) you can see and pull it off.
Then start and see if the noise has gone.
I belive there is no personal downside to this action.
Mine was just done by KW, worked a treat.

Omega General Help / ABS / ECU do they separate insitu?
« on: 21 May 2009, 13:53:23 »
Hi all,
You have all agreed my symptoms of ABS / TC lights on, no speedo or cruise control and now intermittant loss of power steering is that my ABS / ECU is breaking down (still intermittant).
Question is can the ECU be removed from the body of the ABS pump whilst they are insitu? This would at least allow use of the car whilst the ECU is sent to BBAs for refurb.
Anyone got any experience of this?
Anyone got a secondhand abs/ecu bosch ID 1273004206?

Omega General Help / Re: TC - ABS & Speedo all playin up?
« on: 15 May 2009, 09:34:21 »
Hi again miggy guru's
I am trying to find out the numbers on the ABS/ECU on my car so I can organise it's replacement in one session under the bonnet, is that unrealistic? The earlier reply seems to say the ecu is somehow paired/matched to the engine and I must have an identical replacement is that so? Are they readable' in situ or via a electronic reader?
If I get a secondhand ecu will it need a visit to a tech2 wizard to 'reprograme'? before fitting.
OR
Can the replacement secondhand ecu be fitted and then reprogrammed in situ resulting in the unit then sorting out my ABS/TC/Speedo and cruise control?
Sorry for all th questions, just trying to get my head around the task.
Many thanks
