Might be worth flushing the cooling system with a chemical flush and flushing the heater matrix by disconnecting the pipes at the bulkhead and reverse flushing with a hose - just in case it's partially blocked.
Some models did have a "winter pack" which included an electric water pump to circulate coolant through the heater but I'm not sure it made much difference except for using "residual heat" to keep the car warm while parked with a warm engine. The engine water pump should be more than up to the job, especially during warmup while the thermostat is closed.

Drilled out PROPERLY and will be fitted correctly.
Will NOT be buying anything from that particular dealer again. and have written (with pictures) to their MD.
I await his grovelling reply. (if he does actually reply)
but haven't gone out to look yet, still flushing at the mo.
