Omega General Help / Re: WIM Magic
« on: 20 December 2009, 22:07:10 »
A big thank you from my side as well - on the latest trip needed minor adjustments and I was pleased surprised not to be charged for the same. Excellent customer service and I will be returning there with any cars in future and have recommended the place to my friends as well.

Thanks you Tony and wish you and your staff a very happy X'mas.

as said, its the bush in the wishbone, the bolt is loose or the bush has failed early. What make did you use? There have been some early failures with items bought from buypartsbuy iirc.

buypartsbuy, that is it. This time I will let WIM handle it then, can't be bothered to get it done time and again

Thanks, not very far off from WIM so that should not be a problem.

What's the trackrod? Front Stabiliser Link Bar?

Thanks, Tunnie. It still beggars belief, the wishbones were replaced less than 1k miles.

Will call WIM tomorrow and check if they can replace the bush and do a partial geo set-up. Believe, that will be needed, right?

The only explanation I can think of is hitting the curb at 20 mph which left a crack in my tyre.. do you reckon the wishbones bush might have been damaged then?

Omega General Help / MOT failure - Need to understand what it is...
« on: 08 November 2009, 09:21:38 »
Right, my omega did not clear its MOT (only when I thought it would fly through)

The problem which I do understand is "near side front suspension arm has excessive play in pin/bush". Is this the wishbone? As I recently changed the wishbones and got the geo done at WIM or is it something else and how much it might cost?

If, it is wishbone so I need to get WIM done again?

Appericiate any help.

Thanks

If you smell the oil in your power steering bottle then smell your oil cap or dipstick you will smell there is a big difference. pas oil have almost a chemically smell to it. I think it would be a relief to you to smell pas oil & then you know its not too bad of a job.
Could even be a pipe joint on the pas pump.

Checked and it the smell is similar to the smell of Oil instead of PAS fluid. Also oil level has come down - now just below mid mark on the stick :( :(

How big the job might be? :question

Cheers, will do that & keep you all posted:y :y

the top of the oil pump housing is close the pas pump on the 4 pot engines. other than that it could be the corner of head gasket then running down.
Bets to degrease it & power wash off then check regular to see if you can see it starting to leak.
obviously it could be the pas pump if its not engine oil.
try smelling it, they smell totally different

Thanks, degreased a couple of times and could not actually isolate the area - might have to try again.

Not really sure how I can differenciate between oil and PAS liquid. Any pointers on the different smell's?

Oil pump or corner of head gasket does not sound great  :(

Is it oil or power steering fluid?

Looks like PAS fluid given the area it's in...

Thanks, James. I will have a look at the PAS fluid and check if that is decreasing. Apart from hard steering what are the disadvantages of having a PAS fluid leak?

Omega General Help / Oil Leak - Not sure on the next steps..
« on: 23 July 2009, 16:08:11 »
Have a minor oil leak in my otherwise clean engine bay - would ideally like a clean engine if this is not a major job.

Not sure where is the leak is - can any of the experts here help?

PS: Cam cover gaskets changed when I got the Cambelt done & it does not leak from the cam cover. Add the radiator is also replaced - these are some old pics

Many thanks in advance.

Edited to update radiator information
