General Car Chat / Tricks to improve car before selling?
« on: 01 June 2009, 01:07:40 »
I was looking at one nice LPG converted omega on ebay which was almost exactly as I wanted. I checked feedback and I found that seller bought some interesting items recently...

Set 6 Genuine LPG/CNG/Autogas/Petrol Silver Spark Plugs - week before auction

Nitrox Ceramic 7 Engine Oil Additive Audi,Bmw,Mercedes - month before auction

Does it mean that he was trying to temporary improve performance (especially oil additive) for potential viewers and I should forget about this car, or maybe I should be happy that he was looking after his car... ?

By the way... is oil additive like this recommended at all?

Actually I would be more happy with 3.0 elite. I was thinking about this MV6 only because it has all elite kit.

I was asking about spoiler only because I suspected rear damage and boot replacement from different model. I don't think that spoiler makes any difference in omega performance, but it looks good :) Unfortunately omega is not a F1 car...  :(

The one I found is W reg (B FL model), 3.0 V6, Cream leather, Electric seats with memory, sat navigation, bose sound system, heated seats, cruise control, climate control, An electrically operated rear screen sunblind and sunroof. Equipment suggest that it wasn't a police car, but lack of spoiler really confuses me...

I thought that all Omegas B FL MV6 should have a small spoiler. I am currently looking for one of those. I found one with nice MV6 alloys, 3.0 V6 engine but it is without spoiler. Does it mean that it is actually not MV6? :-/

I would just say "sorry I got someone travelling long way to see this car. Call me in an hour and If he will not turn up or will not buy the car then we can make a deal".

Sound fair enough don't you think?

Or he should tell me when I had called him just before I bought the train ticket "keep in mind that car might be sold before you will get here"

Why is it so difficult to be honest this days...?

Here is the story... Couple of days ago I have finally found nice looking 3.0 elite in my price range. I contacted the seller and made appointment to view the car. I left work earlier to get there on time. Just before getting on train I rang the seller to confirm viewing. He said that there is another guy coming at 5 but if I will arrive at 4:15 I will still have some time to view the car before next client. I was sure that I should get there by 4:15. So... I bought the ticket, spent 2:30 on the train to finally get to Peterborough. I got off the train, called seller to tell him that I am there, he picked up and... told me that the car has just been sold!!! I couldn't believe my ears >:(

So 5 hours on trains 100 quid paid for tickets and just big disappointment at the end. Is it just my bad luck or something like this happens quite often?

By the way, I would like to say thank you to OOF member with the nick serek. He offered me help with checking the car before I put cash on the table. I really appreciate your help mate! :y maybe next time :y

I will be buying 3.0 elite FL tomorrow and I would really appreciate if someone would help me decide if she is mechanically OK and worth the money. I will be viewing the car around 3 maybe 4 PM so if you can help me please send me a message.

This sounds like very good idea and I was thinking the exactly the same way when I started to think about buying omega. The thing is that I would have to pay probably about 1300 for fl 3.0 elite and then another 1000 for LPG (correct me if I am wrong) That would make even more than 2000 and would give me a lot of hassle. the other thing is that I don't have much knowledge about LPG conversion and don't have tools or space to do it. As far as I am aware LPG conversion is quite complicated and I don't believe that DIY is the best method. I think that it should be dome by professionals (who have done it many times before). I do realise that finding the right people for the job for acceptable money might be a big issue.
I am a new member of OOF and I know that I might be wrong about many things. That is why I really appreciate help and advice from more experienced omega owners. :y
