Thanks. Is it the same principle for the genuine vauxhall xenons?
They are genuine ones I have bought

I've got the projector style ones at moment but thought I'd buy the xenons. Just need to know about wiring and if it is possible to fit the adjusters I currently have in the projector ones

Omega General Help / Fitting xenon headlights upgrade.
« on: 15 February 2012, 01:17:00 »
Hi all
Just bought a pair of xenon headlights complete with ballasts. I really should have asked the question before I bought them, but, will they be easy to fit to my 97 omega cdx?
I know about the need of self levelling suspension, which I have and I know that washers are needed, which I intend to do.
The thing I need to know really is, firstly is it possable and if so the wiring ect.
Thanks for any advice

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5td LSD????
« on: 08 February 2012, 14:12:00 »

I'm surprised by this. I've towed many Omegas with my 2.5 manual diesel and it used to pull like a train even with another Omega attached. It might be easier to chip yours if its a manual ;)

Mine is chipped, turned up boost an removed cat but when I come to some steepish inclines at 60is it doesn't quite have the grunt an need to mock it down.
Don't know how much difference another diff would make.
Fancy trying the LSD though, I seem to get stuck at the slightest bid of damp on grass etc

Omega General Help / Re: Help Please!!!

Hi.
Believe it or not about ten years ago I had a similar problem with a company car where I worked. It ended up being the timing belt idler that had snapped the plastic around it making it slightly smaller and loosening the belt throwing the timing out causing the engine to run lumpy as hell. Me an the other mechanics couldn't believe it still ran and diddnt throw the belt off an goose the engine, like a few of the other company vehicles did.
It's a long shot but if you have tried everything else you never know.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5td LSD????

Why not? Most of the Omegas with "nordic spec", despite what engine, are fitted with LSD and I'm quite sure that if you can find an Omega from Finnish/Swedish/Norwegian scrap yard it will deffo have LSD. I read somewhere that even in Belgium they sold all Omegas with some "nordic spec" and they should also have LSDs fitted  :y

I've searched on google an unfortunately can't find any. Seem to be pretty hard to get hold of???

To be honest I use my car for towing so a slightly higher ratio may be better. Suppose I'd have to just fit it an see what it pulled like. At the moment when I tow on the motorway 5th gear is just too much for the engine to pull without changing down so maybe the other ratio could be a bonus

Hi all.
Just wanting to know if anyone has put a LSD in a 2.5td?
I'm thinking of putting one in mine if its not too much work.
Cheers

Omega General Help / growling noise Propshaft bearing maybe????
« on: 23 March 2011, 19:58:13 »
Hi all
Just noticed a really deep growling kind of noise coming what sounds to be from under the car.
I have a chipped 2.5td and when I go up a long hill in 4th or 5th and floor it the noise starts. Its a kind of rumbling or deep wuring noise hard to describe.
Has anyone else had this sound before, I was thinking along the lines of center bearing. I heared that a chipped omega can rip the box apart, although mine is a manual.
Thanks for any advice

I have had both Nankang NS2 budget tyres and Continentals premium tyres and to be honest the Nankangs were better for me.
I tow a caravan with mine and the contis only did around 4000 miles on the backs where as the Nankangs did around 14000.
The tread is a lot harder making them last, but on the down side they didn`t grip as good as the contis.
I even managed to get the back wheels spinning with the caravan hooked on going up a hill with the Nankangs on!!!

Omega General Help / Re: problem with n/s heater temp
« on: 01 March 2011, 20:40:44 »
I have now found the motor. The rod was intact. I really need help now before I end up putting a match to it!
If I force the motor into the hot position and then reset the heater with the on off buttons the motor moves back to cold.
But it won't work at all with the heat settings on the heater display?
Really haven't got a clue what to look at next.
