Omega General Help / Re: Found where my oil is going
« on: 24 February 2010, 19:42:42 »
Entwood, thanks for the info.. I was just thinking about this...
Is there a way I can check that they have done these fluid changes?
possible at home checks??
I know here, one thing to do is guarentee the mechanics give you the parts they replaced, otherwise you cant be sure here that they changed things and not just bodged them together...

At least with this one, some comfort comes from the year engine insurance, so 11 months left...

Thanks guys,

Journey is not really important at all, could be canceled and rescheduled. No Probs.

When I found this had already pretty much decided not to drive it as I am way to fond of her to consider doing any damage (even though insurance from purchase should cover any damage to the engine)... Just wanted to see what general consensus was with such a small trip on the horizon..

Hopefully it will be slotted in and all fixed next week.. Then cant wait to hit the road and start getting some real k's under my belt in her :)

Omega General Help / Found where my oil is going
« on: 24 February 2010, 18:01:53 »
So today I was fiddling round with the brake lights and engine, decided I should change the air filter as I have a new one I had ordered since buying the car a month ago. Today was warm and sunny here so I got around to doing it after work..

Anyway decided I should check oil even though I know its losing some (as told about in simple service thread). And found it was near low mark.. 500ml and back to almost full.. Then decided I should check the coolant header tank as I had only checked fluid levels quickly in the snowy conditions since I bought the car...

Opened the cap and low and behold I am greeted with brown liquid inside.. dipped finger in and the water is thick with oil...
It should be going in to be repaired some time next week with the insurance company seeming to be in agreement that the engine repairs (again detailed in other thread) are not as a result of my doing...

BUT.. I need to drive about 200km this weekend for some work, is it worth doing this in the Omega with so much oil in the water, even though chances are its being repaired next week??
If not I shall have to try and cancel the trip..

Hello all. Just wanted to say hi, I'm and Australian currently living in Slovakia and just purchased a 1998 3.0 MV6 Omega. Loving it to bits at the moment, just a perfect drive, and managed to find one without any rust too, which I am stoked about.
Anyway I will upload some photos once I get a good day for it.

Hope to be able to get some of my questions regarding styling and upgrades here. and get to see some others ideas for cars....

just what I was looking for too...

Mate I love it..
the door mouldings are exactly what I want to do with mine... so you say facelift ones are fitted??? I thought it was just a painting the current mouldings... Do you know where I could source a set of those? :P

Very Nice car though,, considering cars tend to go as fast as they look, your thing should be bloody quick :)

popped to the welders today, did some more body work on it, just deciding how to make the tailgate open, either removable or hinged, hinged requires slicing the bumper tho :(
think will make it one piece and removable!

Also, have tried to get a 2009 front end from australia, its not going well so far, but i will have it some time in the next 3 or 4 weeks!

Might be able to help you there if you want... my family is all still back in Aus and some work at holden dealerships/spares... ;)

@ PedroMV6 :D your getting an opel grill and im looking for anything but.. plan is to eventually get a holden badge in a aftermarket grill... ;) its interesting peoples differing choices and the unique way we like how motors isnt it... diversity..

Yeah Pete, its not just an insult to a Calibra, but someone with strong loyalty to GM products (being a good Aussie holden boy) it meant I got rather annoyed...
Well at the moment we are trying a law suit to get my money back, I paid about 1400 euro for it, and I dont have the tools to break it.. :(

Mine will have a holden badge on it real soon ;) will upload a picture then to see how that compares :D

And Pete, that calibra, registrable, Turns out the guy sold me a dud and its a couple of cars built together with an Illegal vin number stolen from a 2000 Blue Mondeo.. .. Has caused me huge amounts of problems so far and am just looking forward to being rid of it unfortunately.. the rims on it are worth 700 euro alone :(
