Omega General Help / Re: Problem with my V6 timing.
« on: 08 May 2021, 21:34:57 »
It's an x25xe.
Striped it all down and can't see anything wrong, so I'm going to fit a new kit and see how we go.

Omega General Help / Re: V6 Cam belt kit part number question
« on: 08 May 2021, 13:35:03 »
Pics now uploaded.

use the old back plate and fit the new rollers to it is what many people do IIRC

09120501 is 2.5 vectra B /omega or 3.0 V6 Omega, Year of Construction 04.1994 - 07.2000 from a quick google

If you do that then the marks on the new belt will not line up when first fitting, or is this not inportant.?

Omega General Help / V6 Cam belt kit part number question
« on: 07 May 2021, 22:27:45 »
Has anyone got the correct part number for a Cam kit, with this tensioner set up? Need to buy a new kit and don't know which one I need.
I know it's not 09120501 (0636728) as I have one and it's the wrong plate.

It an 2.5 engine btw

Thanks for any help.

Bloody phone, will not upload pics. I'll upload them on the PC in a bit, sorry.

Omega General Help / Problem with my V6 timing.
« on: 28 April 2021, 20:46:21 »
A few weeks ago, I started up my Manta (2.5 V6) to move it out of the garage, she started fine but after about a minute it suddenly started to make a very loud  awfull tapping sound.
Tonight I started to investigate what has gone wrong. First thing was to look down the plug holes and see if there was any marks on the pistons, all looks fine. So he next step was to check the timing,  and I think I may have found the problem. Not sure how, but it looks like the timing belt has jumped a few teeth.
With the crank set to tdc, all 4 cams are out of alignment.  Cams 1 & 2 by 3 teeth,  can 3 by 1 Thoth and Cam 4 by 2 teeth. And yet all the tentioners look fine, and the belt is tort.

Any one else ever had this happen? Or can suggest how it has happen.

Omega General Help / Re: Sill protector removal
« on: 31 March 2020, 23:12:38 »
Well to my surprise, I managed to remove both sill covers without breaking any of the clips.  :D

Once covers were removed the extent of the rust was not as bad as I had expected, no need to get the welder out.

After a good clean down with wire brush the metal was still whole so was given a good coat of rust converter, primed and then painted.

Not quite the right colour, but all hidden anyway so not really bothered, as long as it protects.

Thanks for your replies.

I'll give it a go and see how I get on. Terry thanks for the offer, I'll contact you if I struggle to get any clips.
