Omega Electrical and Audio Help / ABS pump/ecu replacement
« on: 01 December 2008, 14:08:07 »
Going to change the ABS pump + Ecu on a friends 2.0 16v as changing the sensors has not fixed the problem of his light staying on.

The car is a 96 model on a N plate. The donor parts are from a 1995 3.0 Elite (its all i have) Aside from the traction control will this still fit and work as it should? or do I need to source one from the correct age/model?

Given the time and work involved and the fact that its not my car i want to get it right first time.

Cheers  ;)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Rear side window demisters

If you have a replacement motor then its just a case of removing door panel, drilling out rivets for window motor and removing, then unscrewing the blower motor from the door, refit is reverse of removal, 30 min job tops, worth it as in this weather the windows steam up easily with extra passengers/kids. Remember you are supposed to look over your shoulder when you pull away from the side of the road, Hard to see through steamed up glass.

A very handy toy that I use often.  ;)

Hi,

My donor car is a 98 CDX and has a very clean interior, I want to transfer all of the seats into my 96 cdx as it has the older style seats with hollow headrests. Is there a way to safely connect the side airbags and get them to function as per factory fitted?  I could transfer any loom needed and the control module seeing as both interiors are coming out.

anyone tried this?

Cheers  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / MID from auto to a manual
« on: 20 November 2008, 16:50:06 »
Hi Guys

This is probably onefor the tech 2 guys, But im looking to replace the MID (yellow and grey connector) in one of my omega's as the one in the car plays up with missing pixels when its cold and damp outside.

The car is a 2.5v6 manual, but the donor MID came from a 3.0 auto elite, of the same age.

Is there any way to disable the autobox check when the car is fired up? the message comes on the screen even tho there is NO autobox and wont let me extinguish the check light.

thanks in advance

Steve

Hi Guys

I have been trying to find out why my indicators flash but there is no sound from the horn or power sounder (1997 2.5 CDX)

with the alarm is active and the indicators flashing to suggest the alarm should be wailing away I used a meter to see if any voltage was getting to either the horn or power sounder, and there isnt  :-?.

I have checked both the horn and sounder on another of my omega's and both work fine.

Im wondering if there is a fuse or relay that I need to check? if so can someone please tell me where?

Being a bit of a perfectionist I want to have this working rather than having another bit of dead weight in the car.

Thanks in advance

Steve

I have the same problem with one of my omega's, the indicators flash but no horn sound, I checked the horn and it works. I tried a bulb connected to the loom for the horn and nothing happened, seems no voltage is going to the horn.

any ideas on that one?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Failed foggies!!
« on: 13 July 2008, 18:40:48 »
According to the wiring diagram for the pre-facelift omegas. there is no relay for the front fogs, it is controlled directly from the headlamp switch Unit, I found this out when trying to fit fogs to a GLS model and couldnt get them to fit.

vauxhall dealer looked up schematic and said there is NO relay for the front fogs, turned out the connectors behind the front bumper had gone all green and werent transferring the power to the lights.

You can change the fog light switches independantly of the main switch unit, but replaceing the whole thing might be an idea.

Also worth changing the bulbs for illumination of the switch while you are at it.

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: rear shelf speakers
« on: 02 January 2008, 21:57:32 »
some cars have the rear shelf speakers, moslty post 96 spec,

the amp is hidden behind the N/S inner rear wing, pull the carpet covering back next the the spare wheel and you should see it (philips amp)

Bose amp is mounted under the rear shelf (where applicable)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Front fogs on a 95 Omega.
« on: 02 January 2008, 21:41:23 »
I have also found this to be the case on my 97 omega v6 gls, the wiring behind the fogs is there but no wiring behind the fusebox,

the wiring diagram shows there is no relay for the front fogs, it is controled by the switch, The simple answer is the wiring to the fusebox was not installed at the factory, so you will need to use an aftermarket relay and switch.

Subsequently my old 2.0 gls had the wiring behind the fusebox and I fitted the lights and switch and it worked.

The 2.0 gls also had the wiring for the heated seats rear blind and traction control switch (even tho it was a 4cyl model)  behind the heater panel but the v6 didnt,

Have a look behind the blanks on your heater panel, if you cannot see any electrical terminals then your car has the basic wiring loom, which i suspect is the case.

cheers

First priority is to stop the tinker running. Remove sporran and ram it up tailpipe. Then toss caber through winscreen and retrieve keys. Peice of piss :y

Im assuming after 3hrs, he has either got in, or run out of petrol  ;D ;D ;D

id say its the fan belt snapped, or pulley given up, seeing as it drives the waterpump and alternator
