General Car Chat / How long have you had your Omega?
« on: 05 July 2016, 05:58:22 »
Was just curious  ::), how long members have had their omega for, I am on my second omega after the first pre-facelift got written off through no fault of my own in 2003. Current facelift I have had almost 13 years.

Sorry not me ... already committed for the first two weeks of September :(
Well, I guess there is potentially the option to use another weekend if a certain semi-retired gentleman was keen to arrange it (though suspect owner will want it outside school holiday periods) ;) :P

I never volunteer for anything.... :P

That's why we have volunteered you :y, see that was easy problem sorted ;D

I just changed the old MAF for a new MAF, which arrived today, ordered Sunday night, all appears good now. VX stealers wanted over £190 and just under £150 trade club, but last week while searching found one at £76 (Bosch), but when I went to look again on Sunday could not find the same site, thought it was Vauxhall world parts but when into the site said 1-5 days delivery but no price, anyway bit the bullet and cheapest I could find was eurocarparts at just over £130 delivered :y

Confirmed MAF at fault, unfortunately, DLK brought a MAF but wrong one 4 pin and not 5, so have ordered one :y, for now have left the MAF unplugged, new one should be here by tomorrow, so no major hardship. Thanks to DLK for his help yesterday in sorting the problem out and confirming :y

Have to say I did enjoy it, actually went to Hawley Clay Shooting ground, not far from Dartford, done two rounds of sport shooting, 70 clays per round on 7 shooting stands, 10 shots per stand, done not too bad for first time, 33 & 34 hits, was £28 for one sporting round with two boxes of cartridges (50 in total), thankfully my friend had a lot of cartridges as he buy's them by the thousand :y, looking forward to going back again maybe next weekend ::)

Off to Vx stealers to pick up new roof aerial, crank sensor and pick up the bits they forgot to give me last weekend >:(, then off down to Headley for some Clay pigeon shooting, having to borrow my mates car as the omega cutting out is getting worse so that's getting left at home, and hopefully all will be sorted tomorrow :y

24? From a 4.5 V8. Not bad  :)

Yeh, the 3.2's really are shite on fuel!  :(

Bit like people moaning that sky is too expensive that. OF COURSE ITS SHITE on fuel. It's a 3.2 v6 auto in a car weighing nearly 2 ton.

....AND the lazy wingebag owner hasn't bothered his arse to convert it to LPG yet. ;D

Then how come V8s with loads more power, more cubic capacity and couple of extra cylinders. Along with extra weight, do better on fuel.

No, the 3.2s are shit engines, similar power output of the 3.0 yet the 3.0s are far, far better on fuel. Difference to power/mpg is not equal between them.
Two words...

Torque and power-to-weight-ratio ;)

Besides, 3.2 can't be that shit... I have two with a combined mileage of 450k miles, on the original running gear...

3.0i V6 24V Elite 4d Auto 0-60 9.0 secs Top Speed 148 mph
3.2  V6 24V Elite 4d Auto 0-60 8.0 secs Top Speed 149 mph

 ::) ::) ::)
I was thinking of the LS1/2/3 compared to the V6... Alot more torque from alot lower down... Of course fit a 3.45 diff to an Omega and I reckon you wouldn't be far off 40mpg ::) it would be a slug off the line though compared to the standard ratio :D

You could also point out that the manual 3.2 is a sub 7 second car... But then some smart arse would argue that it wasn't a retail model and therefore doesn't count ;D

I would like to point out that the manual 3.2 is a sub second car, and is not a retail model so doesn't count :y ;D

Omega General Help / Re: cams ????
« on: 17 June 2015, 05:49:46 »
The head on mine was ported when the 3 litre cams were put in, put on rolling road and threw out 195bhp, so increase of 16bhp, and that was a a hole in the exhaust, now charged to stainless steel cats back, but have yet to put it back on rolling road.
