General Car Chat / Re: Tyre opinions
« on: 07 March 2012, 11:14:33 »
Last tyres fitted to my previous mig before I sold it  :( were Hankook Ventus S1 EVO I think.
Budget price compared to other tyres, way better than anything I had before (Dunlop, Pirelli) and cheaper
I would definitely recommend these to every forum member.
I think hankook are now OEM tyres for many manufacturers
Last time I read some ADAC tests hankook came just second after Continental SportContact but cost half the price

General Car Chat / Re: Why I like Towing with an Omega

My father has an Skoda Octavia with 1.9tdi engine.
115 000 miles, 11 years old, never a single problem with the car.
Engine is dry like Sahara desert, no oil anywhere.
The only thing to note with these engines is if you had a longer run leave the car iding for half a minute before turning it of.
This helps keep turbo and Bosch pump in good condition
Although I must note that it is bloody awful car to drive  ;D

The mileage on the car is a bit worrying, 250 000 km
And parts here are no more available than in uk
So I think I'll stick to tractor for the time being

Not sure about lpg on turbo engines (or complressors).
Ive had brc on my previous mig, got it cheaply from one bloke.
Reason is the following
The bloke had c 220 kompressor merc.
Lpg-ed it first with Landy Renzo I think, and it wouldnt work.
Then he bought BRC (the most expensive one) and it still didn't wont to work properly when the compressor came on.
Most of the cars with turbo and compressors work without problems but I KNOW there were some which simply didn't work properly no matter what lpg kit was done.

You cannot simply put boose sub in,
Cannot power it with anything actually if you have aftermarket stereo and amplifier (Boose is I believe 2ohm speaker not standard 4ohm impedance)

Here I can fetch around 3000-3500 euros for my 1999 2.5td estate mig
But regarding troubling ar25 gearboxes check this out
http://www.autoscout24.de/Details.aspx?id=mk2yjwnqq4xq]http://www.autoscout24.de/Details.aspx?id=mk2yjwnqq4xq

Yes it is automatic, and check the mileage

Been looking at one of these.
Same year as the mig, has 40 000 miles more and is petrol.
Since mig is diesel (and feared automatic thinking of a possible swap).
Mitsubishi is moted 7 months longer than a mig, has all the same toys (apart for Boose, telephone and self leveling suspension)
Nice looking car but never drove a mitsubishi and have no experience whatsoever regarding them.
Could use some advice

Omega General Help / Re: oil on engine tap 2.5td??
« on: 03 March 2012, 18:29:48 »
Spent a better part of the afternoon going through topics on engine flush (got the time since being unemployed. fu... recesion).
I agree with you bootie and wont go with engine flush since I dont know the service history.
Will try some extra oil changes after the financial situation improves.

But I forgot still remains the question of engne flushing or quick oil changes due to oil getting black pretty quickly.
I'm guessing previous owner didn't know about 3000 miles interval
