Driving along ,rattling from somewhere, investigate .oh poo caliper bolt missing!
Hence all the above!
It rates about as highly as all the stupid oppsing self-abusers who insist on covering all the roundabouts here with rubber, oil and then ultimately, debris from their twenty year old Jap shitboxes when they inevitably crash...
and the fugly looksLS 400Engine bay looks a bit grubby
That's a lot car for a bag of sand,it'll hurt you if it should go wrong though
OOOUUUCCCHHHH.
I bet he'd settle for £800 cash.
What's the worst that can happen?...
engine/gearbox could fall out
EMD you do like a V8 only think about one if you can live with the 17-19 MPG
There is an element of sanity with a sensible burnt out in racing, or drag racing.usually wrong wheel drive gay mobiles--as seen at my local tesco car park on a saturday nite---they get upset when a rat rover burbles up to them and leaves smoking tyres and v8 thunder
I'd guess you know the logic behind drag racing, well that works with bikes as well in cold conditions. Not uncommon for bike racers to do a quick spin up just before the start to get some heat, and therefore grip in the tyre.
Beyond that..... Pointless
Oh , is that the car your putting the 3.2 mig motor in?? gota 350 chev bored to 383 with hi comp pistons and edelbrock heads-mostly done-will end up in rover Also got a 3.9 rover vitesse with a auto box in garage But leaving standard 1703cc four pot in consul-saves me time/money--however if buyer wants-I can get a 3.0 and manual box from a capri for a very reasonable fee-
Since (if not before) having to change head gasket, and cam belt, (Aug) have been trying to resolve a rough tickover problem.try that but the smoke you get does seem to me its a servo leak tbh
This has gradually been getting worse
Codes showed lean mixture, lamba 1 probs and misfire on pot 3, changed Lamba 1, still the same
Live data showed everything seemed to be operating fine apart from running lean
Looked at numerous previous posts on this and have changed/checked - plugs, plugwells, scuttle foam, coilpack, MAF, breathers and vac pipes. Have even changed the exhaust manifold which had a crack in it (luckily have spares from old mig)
Have triple checked cam belt installation
There are no "odd" noises
So the symptoms
Engine runs fine at all other times apart from tickover (and when decellerating)
Tickover is erratic/irregular (up/down) from cold and when at normal running temp
Slightly improves when on LPG
Improves when in gear and holding on foot brake, BUT, is extreme when "crawling" and in neutral
and the odd one's
Brake pedal is stiff and inefective when car first started (hot or cold), but ok after about 30 secs
When ticking over for an extended time, there is a "small" burst of white/blue smoke from exhaust when revved
Will be removing and cleaning throttle body (as per maint guide) this weekend but do not hold-out much hope
Should I suspect a valve guide seal ?
Should I suspect the brake servo ?
Any other suggestions ? (apart from STMO's usual ones)
Thanks
Phil
edit: the head gasket seems to be ok, double checked by someone else
