All the intake stuff must come out. And radiator to make room. Bonnet off and plastic scuttle off. Then remove all coolant hoses and servo hoses and disconnect all wires. Fuel lines, throttle cable and sai pipework. And the Vacuum hoses. Unbolt exhaust downpipes from manifolds both sides. Then its all gearbox connections. Wiring and shifter. Probably some more stuff i forgot. Remove propeller shaft and unbolt gearbox rear crossmember. Unbolt engine mounts and engine with gearbox should lift out. Need to Get front of the car pretty high to allow space for the gearbox to swing down when the bottom front of the engine goes over the front of the car.

I swapped the engine in my mv6 for another v6 a couple of years ago. I found it easyer to remove the engine and transmission as one unit. Then bolt the transmission to the new engine on the garage floor. And then finally lift the engine and transmission in again as one unit.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Light switch issue
« on: 03 April 2017, 20:20:50 »
Success:) ordered leds from eBay and soldered them in today. Was 3mm for all three leds. The one for the front fogs should be green led. Only had white so used that and glued a piece of a green plastic bag on the optic of the switch. Results was very decent:)

Update/sidenote: since i dont have any spare leds i decided to test my soldering ability on an old broken ir fob/remote. Much to my surprise i didnt screw it up, the remote actually started working again and unlocked the car it belonged to!:) Now that im suddenly a soldering expert i will Get my hands on some leds and try my luck with a couple of those old light switches:p

Later cars had them on the dash yes. I no longer recall where the switch marked 2007 in the 1994 estate comes from bur i know i have changed it years ago. I guess its a spare part from Opel produced much later and therefore has less "age" on the leds.

Shall check YouTube. I saw the date on the fully functioning switch from the estate was 2007. So its obviously alot newer than the original 1994-1997 switches im struggling with. Thanks alot for great advices:)

Thanks for the reply. Dont think i shall try to solder aything as small as a LED in a circuit board:p allthough i have had one of these switches apart so i know how its put together.
Anyway i tried borrowing the known functioning switch from my 95 3,0 estate today and that worked fine in the 2,0 saloon also. But as said i previously have tried 3 different switches that all Failed to light up led 1 and led 2(rotary switch illumination and front fog switch) led 3 (rear fogs) worked fine on all. I can only assume now that these leds are a weakness in these switches.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Light switch issue
« on: 22 March 2017, 19:46:41 »
I have an omega 2,0 1994. The issue is that the LED that shows if the front fog lights are on dont work. Also the LED that illuminates the top of the switch dont work. This is the old type with led lights in the switches. Thought it was a switch issue but now i tried three different switches and they all behave the same. Led in the rear fog light switch works fine but the one in the front switch dont. Backlight bulb is OK. Switches also turns the lights on and off fine. Just a pita to have to run around the front of the car to check if fogs are on or off. Wiring seems OK behind the switch.

Omega General Help / Re: High idle just after start
« on: 22 March 2017, 17:33:11 »
My 3,0 will idle at around 1100rpm when cold. In the winter for a couple of minutes. Shorter in the summer. After that it will drop straight down to 500 rpm. I believe thats normal behaviour.

Omega General Help / Re: Sport mode 3.2
« on: 07 March 2017, 19:54:49 »
Sounds to me like its behaving as it should. Dont know about 3,2 but at least in my 1994 3,0 sport mode usually makes it shift down a gear when you engage it at speed. It then pulls all the way to the red line before changing gears, and its also more eager to downshift upon accelaration. Will still go to fourth when cruising.

Edit: must type faster:p

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Pfl dashboard switches
« on: 04 March 2017, 10:57:45 »
Hi. Anybody know what kind of lightbulbs are in the pfl switches? The ones that provides backlighting in the heated seats/rear window heater/ac and so on switches. I know theyre soldered in there and earlier i just bought new switches when the bulbs went out. Now switches seems harder to come by new and used is a lottery. Planning on soldering in new bulbs in my old switches. Are they 0,6w or around there? And also where to find bulbs?

Omega General Help / Re: Oil Light problem.
« on: 01 March 2017, 19:49:18 »
Happens from time to time on my X30xe. Maybe a couple of times a year. Only at idle and when the engine has been working Harder than usual. Always goes out above idle rpm. Pickup is clear and car has done almost 500.000km so havent bothered with it. I just make sure i dont keep it idling with the light on.

Omega General Help / Automega tensioner pulley
« on: 27 February 2017, 17:04:12 »
Recently got a bad sound in the tensioner pulley on my 3,0. Bought just the pulley wheel branded automega. Just because it was much cheaper than opels part. Anybody got experience with automega tensioner pulley wheels. Are they OK, or is it asking for trouble to fit it?
