Omega General Help / Re: Transmission convertions
« on: 05 December 2006, 18:42:29 »
Sorry to drag up an old thread but, i thought it better to carry on from this one.

Im in the process of looking for a suitable donor car to convert mine (facelift 2000 plate MV6), i'd have them side by side.

My question is, would it possible to use either MV6/elite/cd etc pre-facelift 3.0 as a donor car??.

Just was wandering if all the parts were the same one all 3.0 models for facelift and pre-facelift???

Many thanks

Jim

Ok i wont bother with the skimming then, thanks for that  :).

As said earlier about the manifold, I have a pair of sports cats to fit too so maybe i could find a manifold to match them

As per the tittle im in 2 minds to have it done. The car will be coming off the road next year for a load of changes, ill be doing the cam belt etc so i was wandering if its worth going the whole hog and whipping the heads off for skimming, port polishing and gas flowin.

Also peace of mind of having the head gaskets replaced is pushing me to do it.

I have 99% of the tools for the job, bar a torque wrench. Ill be buying one of these anyways.

Any input would be greatfully appreciated

So the chip u sell is a plug and play affair then? Im planning on getting a pair of sports cats and a full cat back s/s dual exit exaust system fitted, would it make any difference to which i fit first? i.e would you recomend fitting the chip before or after the exhaust or doesnt it matter?

How easy is it to fit? and whats involved? do you sell them on an exchange basis? and last but not least is it worth it on an auto (3.0 btw)?

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated

Sorry for all the questions, lots i know lol

Hmmm ok then thanks guys, ill spend the money on body mods then lol. A superchip could well be on the cards then, are these mapped specifically to each car or is it plug and play? also how much are they and what gains can be expected?

Thanks very much for replying, i feel richer already  :)

Thanks for replying Mark, i just basically looked on the Courtney website and found stuff for the v6. If none of its worth doing then its a lot of money saved like.

I had an enlarged throttle body fitted to a 2.0 vec, it improved the acceleration but its alot more expensive on the v6.

The thermostat ive heard lowers the temp by 10 degrees.

Is there any better way to up the power? or do i have to cheat and get NOS?

Is that a supercharger i can hear? lol

Thanks for the help Mark
