Shouldn't be too much to shake down given the factory built them...  :D
That's certainly what I'm hoping, it's more about checking out our exhaust manifolds and repositioned cats, as well as lightweight flywheel/clutch combination.  Hopefully that should be lively enough to be fun for a while, and give us more time to fettle the "matching numbers" engine before it goes back in...eventually.

I assume your using 200 cell cats, and re postioning the lamdas,  are going to go 2.5" from a Y section or remake as std, to a better flowing twin box then into 1 rear box.
Yes, I have mocked it all up, and have the option of a 3" X-pipe going back into twin 2 1/8" (54mm) pipes with two oval centre boxes and single back box with twin pipes in and out. Just got the brackets to finalise once I can get the car on a ramp again. Will experiment with either the X-pipe or twin independent front pipes, depending on the sound and performance difference.  lambdas will be repositioned either side of 200 cell cats which are where the secondary ones usually are.  It's all fairly straightforward, but a fools errand from a commercial point of view...so not exactly a priority right now.

Offered on here before listing elsewhere, was taken from 115,000mile car and was working fine, but could probably benefit from an oil and filter change. £100 collected from Northants (if possible within current restrictions). Carriage by arrangement, would have to be palletised, so extra cost.

Ermm.. What were they trying to chase, again?
Dunno, Dingos?
As a former traffic cop once said to me, the blue lights are worth at least another 100bhp, because the chaser doesn't have traffic in his way :y

Fitted a manual gearbox to the spare Y32SE engine ready for exhaust manifolds to be made before trial installation in MV6 "Fred".  Plan is to refresh original engine (stop the oil leaks, and generally tart it up) while we shakedown the manual conversion.

Omega General Help / Re: Y32SE cold start low revs
« on: 11 January 2021, 08:35:17 »
Back on Topic!  The MV6 has started every time this last week, even when left outside on the coldest -3deg nights.  I'm used to it now only ticking over at 800rpm with no drama compared with the higher cold start revs of the Lotus Carltons I am more used to, which I realise is probably due to the requirement of getting cats (which are halfway down the car) warm for emissions requirements.  The swift warming of the engine and heated cloth Recaros are also most welcome on my short drive to work. ;D

Im not sure I would agree. The Omega is a big heavy car, and Im pretty sure if it were being designed today it would have to have a much improved braking system. They were ok ish when it was made, but things move on and Omega brakes arent great by modern standards.
Also true :y

Sounds a lot of expense and faffing about to gain what in particular? Unless you are the habit of driving like those 'ne'er do wells' on those Police Camera Action type programs, or absolutely cane the brakes with your style of driving, in my opinion, Omega brakes are more than adequate.
I agree for road use, but I intend to use the car on track too where the full performance can be enjoyed without risk to my license and/or other road users.  As I am now closer to 60 than 50, my preference on the road these days is wafting not racing...but it's nice to have some extra reserve for when a LHD lorry wanders into my path on a motorway.
