Omega General Help / Elite set frames on MV6 seats
« on: 02 August 2008, 12:39:26 »
i would like to try and fit Elite full electric seat frames to my MV6 seats, having looked at the wiring on the CDX there is a lot more there than is required and i am wondering if the car has an Elite Loom fitted, so far i have found the additonal loom for the memory adjustment for the rear view mirror.

So the plan is to try and get two elite seat bases/runner assemblies with motors as well as the seat ECU and try and connect it all up to the MV6 seats i have, this having fully electric MV6 leather.....

Any ideas on if this is possible?

check for cambelt. should have been done 3k ago, and make sure that the tensioners were done at the same time, if not factor about 350 to 400 to get the job done.

service history, does it have any, check the header tank for evidence of any oil.
try and make sure the car is cold when you first start it up, listen for any  noise and check the exhausts

aside from that it is pretty much typical Omega stuff

i sold my 2.5 with 165,000 on it and it was still going very well indeed....

That said i bought a 96,000 mile 2.6 and it had two holes in the block where the conrod had tried to do an escape act, this was due to poor maintainence.....

at least 200K i would expect to see if it is well looked after

we had a customer who used to complain of a 'knocking' noise when going over rough terrain, we spent weeks going over everything.....

the noise was there, but nothing was loose or faulty or out of tolerance, it transpires the customer had bought the car from a warring couple who were going through a very bad and messy divorce.

She wanted the car, he didn't want her to have it so he dropped half a dozen large metal ball bearings into the fuel tank, these would bang around and finally sent the woman to the point where she had enough of the car and sold it just to spite the Ex.

Finally when we took the tank out we found them, boy were we relieved to get that one out of the garage

This sounds a bit wierd, and it actually sounds like there are two issues here......

The point that others has made is true, you have paid for a service/repair on the basis of the 'experts' diagnosis and this has not been carried out, you really do need to speak to them about this.

The fact that it drops into limp mode does seem strange, the Auto Gearbox message does pop up sometimes when the selector is starting to go a bit wonkey, i had this on my last omega, however i found that giving it an gerabox oil and filter change also cured a lot of a issues.

As TheBoy has said, to be 100% sure of the issues try a paperclip test to establish what the faults, that way you then have an idea of what work is required.....it does seem that you are doing the dealers work, but it gives you ammo when you need to shove a rocket up their jacksey  :y

sounds like the internal release lever --- so's you can reach in from the cabin and open the boot if switch gets stuck

Only useful if you haven't got an LPG tank in the way  :-[

Tell me about it !!! Keep thinking I must rig up some sort of extension -- then keep forgetting  :-[

You won't remember to do it until it is too late  ;)

My old Elite use to spring into life about 20 seconds after i had fired the engine up, and you wouldn't see a change in the ride height of the car, although it wasn't sat that low.

If it is low on the back have the shocks themselves gone?

If the lights are on then as a safety i would take it that the are non functioning.

even if the ECU is giving a false signal, the face that it is doing this would imply that there is something else wrong
