Omega General Help / Re: Vibration. Could it be the diff???
« on: 26 July 2013, 15:01:26 »
Will double check the prop bearing but I have given the prop a good going over. Can you explain more about the wishbones? My problem is very speed specific. It's not related to road surfaces or engine load. In fact I can replicate it in any gear as long as I'm doing 56 MPH. It seems to build with speed from say 40, peek at 56 and is gone by 70. I really am at a loss.

that's exactly what it was.

No vibration up to 50.

Felt like the entire front end was coming off from 50 to 70

Fine from there on up.

vibration strong enough to make you lose focus

Omega General Help / Re: Cooling Fans
« on: 21 July 2013, 22:06:13 »
There's three fans effectively.

Stage 1 is the low speed of the main engine cooling fan behind the radiator pack.

Stage 2 is the high speed setting of the main fan

Stage 3 is the two fans in front of the radiator pack ( assuming you have aircon )

I'd have to look up the exact temperatures for them to operate.

If you're worried about temperature, simply turning on the aircon will operate the twin fans (stage 3). They're on all the time the aircon is on.

and yes, Omegas do vary greatly in their normal running temperature. I've had cars that normally run at 3/4 gauge and others that run at 1/4

Omega saloon self-levelling shocks will work on Monza.

Omega caravan self-levelling shocks will not

yes, mine's identical to that - a 1999 4.2 Avant. 5-speed auto with Bose. Bought for £1300 last June. Used mainly to transport the dogs around in winter.

I did have another until last week - it was also a 1999 car, but a saloon. I sold it at the weekend, for £2K, which was £1500 more than I bought it for. (yes - £500). It was absolutely top-spec, with recaros, the solar panel sunroof and double-glazing.

I have for sale a complete good condition 3.2 V6 engine, complete with ancillaries, ecu and chip.

so that's engine, alternator, aircon compressor, PAS pump, Siemens ecu and key chip. I can probably find a wiring loom, too if needed.

The engine has been freshly removed from a 2003 manual car, so has the crankshaft rear bearing fitted, although this is easy to take out. The ecu and matching chip come from an auto Omega.

True mileage unknown - this is not the original engine from the vehicle ( typical ex-plod ) It was replaced in 2006, shortly before the car left the force.

£300 and I'll consider delivering it for you depending where you are in return for some beer tokens

I've got a 4.2 Audi A6 avant. Plenty of performance there !

and it was only £1300, too.
