Which would make more sense, ex-pm, still a high profile terrorist target but not worthy of a Daimler anymore :P

General Car Chat / Re: MOT: centre rear lap fitment

I had a similar issue with my estate, previous owner obviously had problems with it and removed it completely. When I took it for the MOT there was no questions asked and they passed it (rightly or wrongly).

In my case I actually wanted the belt so bought a 3 point belt for £18 but for you this lapbelt should be OK and it saves a pound  :)

Just took our pool car up north for a trip, Zaf 1.6 Club, quite possibly the worst car I have ever driven.

Gutless, unstable, uncomfortable, borderline dangerous headlights, it should come with a warning "use for school runs only"  :D, in fact my old CF230 from 20yrs ago outshone it in all departments.

Damn glad to get back in the mig  :y

I always go to the same place because i can sit and watch them doing it and see what they are up too ... but i hate it , sit with sweaty palms and everything  ;D ;D
It's interesting watching the MOT threads with people asking did they do xxx etc. I've always stood and watched my MOT beside the car, when it fails on something underneath they routinely invite me into the pit to point it out.

Maybe i've been spoiled.

I don't see the point in getting it out, it's not like you can self install them like the old Cortina days. On top of that i've seen Autoglass crack more than one trying to install them (think my bosses old Senator took 3 attempts), easier to pay them a set fee and let them take the risk.

I would have thought a leak mark on the ground where you park your car would be noticed much sooner than waiting till the next time you took the tray off.
Actually no, I have a block paved driveway and when my daughter had a couple of Golfs they dripped oil all over it which just wont clean off. And i'm not looking at taking the tray off to check it, I can see from above if it's wet.

I toyed with removing my tray because dropped tools always seemed to land there but in the end I opted to leave it because once removed, cleaned & replaced it works as a handy tool for spotting leaks.

Friend of mine had one of those - very nice piece of kit and pretty nippy too with the (if memory serves) 2.5ltr boxer engine with two turbos strapped to it..

A servicing nightmare, though! (Then again.. what modern cars aren't?)
The other thing I read is apparently the 4WD system and gearbox need regular oil changes or you're left with a huge bill, much as it appealed it just struck me as too much risk.

The only car I think of, is GM03 HYU as often seen in Road Wars.
That would be the one!

Black undercover 03 plate, HYU I think. Most surprised as I really thought they would all be gone by now.

Been waiting 3 years for 03 3.2auto low miles elite saloon in black with black leather. Not a peep. Some black ones, but older or more miles than mine with  LPG fitted, which if I am to remove and re fit LPG to another car, it really sholud be a car worthy of the aggro involved in removing and re fitting LPG kit.

I even stopped some poor old fella driving such a car out of a supermarket car park and asked if he wanted to sell, I was ever so polite and softly spoken, but he looked at me as if I was about to car Jack him  ;D bit too excited maybe   :D
Maybe it's just me but I did a quick google and came up with http://motoring.friday-ad.co.uk/eastbourne/used-cars-for-sale/vauxhall-omega/vauxhall-omega-elite-SN4309686?Premium=1

3.2 elite, black, 89k, service history, ok so it's cream leather, maybe you're just unlucky  ;)

I'd take a punt on that http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120624349298 even if it does 'only' need a rear wheel bearing.

Actually the wife would probably take a punt on me if I bought it but that's a different story  :D
