A relative of mine a good few years ago had an BMW M3 with launch control. When he took it for some warranty repairs at BMW (nothing to do with the drive line or transmission), he was warned that the diagnostics on the car showed it had had two previous activated launch control starts, and that certain future warranty work may be declined should the number of launches exceed a number (I'm not sure what) not short if the two recorded.
Begs the question, why would a car manufacturer have such a system on a performance car, to basically say its use is restricted? Seems crazy to me....

My BMW handbook clearly states that excessive use of launch control causes premature wear on the drivetrain. It probably says the same in my Audi handbook but I haven’t bothered reading it.  :)

Proper quick car you’ve got there Opti.  :y
Is the CVT in the Audi capable of launching anything but itself  :-\

I'll probably never know.  :-\  As an older gentleman with a reformed driving style I'm more at risk of clogging up my dpf through slowness than using launch control.  ;D

Just to clarify, I’m not saying that anyone takes any notice of this warning though.  :y   ;)

All the best Lizz, get plenty of good grub down you👍

Thanks :-*
People joke about hospital food, but at least here in Ashford it is very good for mass catering.  Really tasty, sensible portions, and great trolley staff dishing it out …..

Yep, Harefield meals were really good, you get a proper menu in colour as well.  :y  High Wycombe cardio unit on the other hand, a lot of my meals looked like they’d been run over before getting to me.  ;D  Staff were ok though.  :y
Tip of the day Lizzie, to pass away the time, get someone to bring in an iPad and ear buds and give Netflix a caning.  :y

Close call, Lizzie, sounds as if you've been through it, probably mentally as well as physically…….

Lizzie, fingers crossed for you. Be prepared after the operation to be affected emotionally. I went from not giving a shit to being emotionally shot to shit. I would well up over nothing during a normal conversation. Physically I was on the mend but emotionally I’m not sure it’ll ever leave me, so it may pay to forewarn your family of this.
I spent three months solid in Harefield Hospital (2 major operations just 2 days apart) and can’t praise them up enough. Good luck, I hope they get you sorted.  :y
Oh, and I wasn’t allowed to drive for twelve weeks, which did not please my Mrs as she became my chauffeur.  ;D

My neighbour has just had his Class 7 LWB Transit recovered from Ilfracombe (208 miles) in one hit by Britannia. He paid thirty odd quid for recovery as part of his LV vehicle insurance. I’ve no idea what it would be separately or for multi-car but my neighbour was impressed with the service and couldn’t praise them enough.  :y

My insurance renewal last month for one car would have been a 40% increase but a quick call to them reduced it to a 16% increase, so I’m happy enough with that. Always worth a call.  :y

...., so I have to remove the hearing aids and go back to being deaf.  ;D

PARDON!  ;) ;)

sorry  ::) ... had to be done  ;D

 ;D
I’m getting forgetful as well. I bought a new Mikita 4” Angle Grinder the other day as my my 9” was too big  ::) for the job I was doing. When I’d finished using it I put it on my tool shelf in the garage ……… next to the new, unused Mikita 4” Angle Grinder that I’d bought six months ago.  :-[  Still, my son will be happy as he might as well have one of them.  :)

I find mine really useful when a) access is tight or b) using it in a room that's already decorated due to the comparatively low levels of dust they produce.

I have a Makita one, but only because I already had the batteries. The only negative thing I have to say about them is the noise they make. Won't make you popular with anyone else in the house!

I used mine today to do an undercut on a piece of wood trim. I was outside and it was still noisy. Definitely an ear defender job.  :y  I really must buy some new blades, instead of filing new teeth on them.  ::)
Too late, you've already buggered your hearing at the factory!

 ;D :y
I wear hearing aids now but when I put ear defenders on when using the chainsaw/circular saw etc. it causes the hearing aids to whistle, so I have to remove the hearing aids and go back to being deaf.  ;D

I’ve used and abused my Bosch PMF190E for quite a few years. It has its uses like any other tool, cutting through plastic pipe where a hacksaw won’t fit, trimming wood where access with a saw is otherwise impossible etc.  I’ve never used it as a sander though as the small footprint of sandpaper would quickly clog up in my view.
I’ve never bought any new blades for mine, I just use a square file to file new teeth on the blades.  ;D  If you hit a nail or metal it blunts the blade quickly.

I have 4 genuine new, still in the boxes, Nissan Navara D40 Alloy wheels in my garage loft. I also had a pair of hardly used headlights and taillights from the same D40 Navara. I took them to our local car breakers and offered him these parts for free. He said he needed the vehicle VIN and any other documentation to prove that they came off our vehicle. The D40 has long since gone so he wouldn’t accept them, even for free.  :-\
I ended up taking the headlights and taillights to the tip but still have the alloys. Seems a shame to dump them but they’re of no use to me.

eBay  :y

We did consider eBay but as every Nissan D40 Navara owner had new wheels on recall, eBay was flooded with the things.  :(  We had fitted our own bigger, wider wheels so they just gave us the new alloys in the boxes. I’m hopeless at getting around to advertising and selling things.  :-[

;D ;D  Yep Andy, age catches up with us and things we would easily do in our 20's suddenly becomes very hard. ::) ;)

And speaking as an older male, things that used to be very hard in your 20's aren't so hard, or don't stay as hard for so long.  ::)  ;D

 ;D ;D ;D ;D Did we want to know that! ;D  ;D :D
[/quote]

Not really relevant was it.  ;D

Back on track, I fully understand what you mean regarding age and crawling under cars. Much easier to drop the car off, have it fixed, pay the bill and drive away.  :y
