So I bought my Zafira from Fuse19's favourite dealer, Evans Halshaw  :)

I sincerely hope they are better than the bunch of retards up here  :o

The customer service was the worst I have ever encountered and when the van went in to a family run dealers to find out why the van was getting water in the passenger footwell they found that the pollen filter had been folded up and rammed in  >:(

If it's cost effective, do it!  :y

Says Sir Tig heading out into the cold to change the Mondeo's brake pads.  :(  ::)

Rarely is.

The Nissan ones are very good for the 370 and GT-R, most of the guys buying new tend to get them as they are very cost effective, £500 for the first three services was the last price someone mentioned.

In all honesty I couldn't put that car anywhere near its limits on a regular B road and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I had her well into three figures, don't get me wrong. But unless all these pistonheads frequenters have much greater skills than I, there are some mighty Keyboard warriors out there.

Sure, you can blat it flat out down the slip road, or away from a roundabout, but that hardly requires much dexterity does it?

The problem is it's not really a lot of fun at that kind of pace, I'd much rather have a GT86/mx5/mk1 boxster and actually be able to explore the limits of the cars performance

All slightly 'effete'

Cars designed for girlies to drive to the hairdresser, or the gay man to drive to the gym. ::)

The Datsun 370Z  that Mr Gav owns is more of a proper old-fashioned sports car similar to the Healey 3000 with a nice straight six up front.

Somebody on the Nissan forum said it was a analogue car in a digital age in a discussion comparing it with the new M4`s and Audi`s like the TT RS and RS4`s due to the lack of gadgets, which I find is part of the charm.

/stupid question

I've never actually replaced the HID bulbs before, best to disconnect battery? Considering changing that anyway, as it's turning over a bit slow now. Winter kicking in.
Even with your gadget hands, you will not get in the OS one without removing battery. So non-issue.

Check adjusters before you buy bulbs, if they are broken, buy some, and do all at same time.

Not actually tested adjusted before  :-[  :-\

If you break one I have a spare plastic one you can have  :y

Cheers  :y

Is that from a spare unit or did you buy them?

It is from an old unit after I put aluminium adjusters in  :y

I agree with you there, you just can`t exploit it on B roads (My 370z is roughly the same performance wise), clit Sports and the like will run rings round them.

I have had some very good runs on some decent A roads though, particularly the A166 from York to Driffield where you can use the overtaking abilities that the MX5 and GT86 just don`t have. The only problems with roads like that is that they are popular with the bikers which in turn brings unmarked plod cars.

Hmmmm.....not really my point.
The best car I’ve ever had, in my opinion, was a humble rover. A 623 SLi with the Honda 2.3 power unit. Really soft and comfortable drive, but Christ it could move when you wanted it to. Definitely towards the bottom of the top trump pile, but everything you need in a saloon car.

I like a car with good shove 35-80 for overtaking dodderers on A and B roads. 9-5 aero had the optimum power/torque compared to running costs. The M140i was more power than you could reasonably deploy on uk roads.

Clearly not trying hard enough Jimmy  ;D

Personally I don`t see the point in trying to find oil for £20/5l on a car that costs £1000`s
I'm an habitual oil changer.  I'm already at 8k on this oil, hence the urgency to actually now get some, as in my mind, its already 3k overdue.

Making it £100 for a DIY change 3-4 times a year adds a considerable amount to running costs.

True, unfortunately this is the cost of running more expensive cars.

If you can buy your oil for your planned annual oil changes using discount codes and get free delivery then it makes it a bit more palatable.
I'm sure you mean 6 monthly ;)

No, what I meant was buy enough oil for all the changes you will do in a year  ;D

I admire the ambition, but I don't fancy lying under the car every 6 weeks  ;D. So mine's staying in for the full 12,500 miles

Heathen  ;D

I tend to buy them from HIDS4U on ebay... no complaints at all, ie what I ordered is what arrives...

You won't buy them from ebay, I won't buy generic/unbranded from Halfords... even though we both know they probably share the same supplier ::)
The cheapo chinese aren't great to begin with, but lose their illumination really quickly.  So, yes, I can buy a pair of D2S for under £25 delivered, but they aren't worth it for me.

Same with low grade LEDs etc, they lose illumination power faster than higher grade LEDs.

So, yes, might share a supplier (though probably not), but the quality is unlikely to be the same.

We pays our moenys and make our own choices.  But for others reading, they need to understand the facts to make an informed decision :y

The ones I got from Autobulbs direct were Phillips but came in plain white boxes, IIRC £72 for a pair.
The plain boxes would set alarm bells ringing.  The cost would have been about right for genuine HIDs about 2 years ago (assuming D2S, not D3S).

This was around three years ago, never had an issue with them and apart from the packaging were identical to the bulbs I removed.

They don`t come in branded boxes at the main stealers either  ;)
